i thought this forum was about stereotypes not a reason to gang up on blacks wow most of u seem racist

This thread started as a specific question on black stereotypes, not suprising then that most of the comments relate to blacks, doesn't make most of the posters recist!

I believe that a lot of people are willing to seek out what you wrote but sometimes in reality people show their selves as a television program's partecipating..I think that they have this behaviour cause they follow ma** media culture and their stereotypes

yes, but race is not the only stereotype she wanted talk about. I think she refer to class, gender and sexuality, ethnic origin and physical disability

I think the whole "blacks like fried chicken" comes from the fact that you find more blacks in the south and fried chicken is a southern food. But you know I grew up in the south and this is the first time i've heard it.
I'm far from a racist person. I went to a highschool that was 45% black and had both white and black friends. But there was a lot of racist problems there. There were the gangs and skinheads. White people pretty much stuck with white. Black with black. Mexican with mexican.
My junior year during a black history month assembly a riot broke out, when this stupid a** drew a picture of a black man being hanged and then folded it up like an airplane and threw it towards the black crowd. The whole school was put on lockdown and a lot of kids (mostly black) were arrested.
It's a shame that people can't appreciate one another for things that go deeper than skin color.

OMG Chicken Little, the sky is so NOT falling!

It is the first time i read this sentence "blacks like fried chicken". I don't undurstand what it means. Studying history of American people i noted that television, radio and cinema maked a lot of confusion about racial problem and they create black stereotype. In Italy we are going to have the same problem with Romenian people. Ma** media have a bad influence on public opinion. In any cases ma** media fight stereotypes but it is so difficult because i think they are the first stereotypes productor. lea doll you experience is terrible. I never see racial problem near me and your story learns to me. Thank you

This post is utterly ridiculous to me. I'm sorry, I don't live with stereotypes everyday. The people whom I surround myself with could give a rat's a** about my ehtnic background. I find it interesting to understand the preconceived notions that a person of a different racial background may hold towards me! Forgive me for not yelling from the roof tops that I'm black and I 'm proud. I would like to know what people THINK are my weaknesses so I can work even harder to prove them wrong, SISTA!!!

Death is not the biggest fear we have; our biggest fear is taking the risk to be alive -- the risk to be alive and express what we really are.

Sorry, I recycled this post from another thread, but I felt it was relevant:

Technically everyone in the world is 'mixed race'. The human race is indeed a mixed race. But the idea of seperating people into discrete racial or ethnic categories is ridiculous. The differences between 'races' are absolutely superficial: skin colour; hair colour; eye colour; facial structure etc. Nothing that can justifiably be used to discriminate between people, unless you are talking about how tolerant someone is to UV radiation, or some other trivial issue. This is why I started a petition for the PM to have questions on 'ethnicity' removed from official questionnaires.

Believing that there is such thing as 'race' can only cause division and conflict. It's time we accepted that there is only one race - the human race.

Whats cool about discussions like this is.....

No one knows (apart from profile pics) who is white/black/pink ect so it really does bring home the fact that race is only a division by parenting ( i only knew my best friend at nursury was black because my mother told me) and also because of religion.

Black stereotypes are stupid. Just because you see a black loving watermelon doesn't mean anything. Lots of people love watermelon just like lots of people love some fried chicken. Has nothing to do with race. The reason why people stereotype that is because once in the slave days blacks were fed scraps such as leftover fried chicken and when they got it they gobbled it up so that made some whites think that all blacks love fried chicken. Fried chicken is soul food from the olden days. I love watermelon for it's watery taste that doesn't taste like pure water but is still refreshing with the hint of the fruit in it.

It's stupid f**ks like you that make this world a hard place to live in while continuing to be, in my case, a well educated, intelligent, easy going, young black female like myself. I usually don't wish anything bad on anyone, but I hope you burn in hell you worthless piece of s**t!! That is, if these are your feelings, if not, disregard everything I just wrote.

I have a question... I started not to post on this thread because racism nor sterotypes bother me. I am black and my husband is white and there is so much love in our relationship til our focus is else where.

So my question to you "Lyric" is: Why start a thread that you know will invoke a magnitude of ignorance? Then respond in a way that makes you seem like the stereotypical black female. Are you infact a Nigger? Nigger just means ignorant and I hold it true to it's meaning. So when I see or hear th word I don't claim it, because I know otherwise about myself. I can be called the infamous "N-Word" over and over again and still it doesn't effect me. What you think?

I agree with you. I'm from Philly and lived in Wyoming, Texas, Germany, and now California (thanks to the Air Force). I love me! God knows I do and I wouldn't have it any other way......
