Not sure if this is the right place for this but..

I have selective mutism and i dont understand why to alot of people its weird?

Is it really that bad that i wont say a word infront of people i dont know and only to family memebers? i know it doesnt help me for when i get a job or need something in school but i get stuck

What do you guys think?

how did you find out you had this? like i mean did you go to a doctor. I find it interesting. I dont like talking to new people it scares me.

what is that?!!! I wont think its wierd until i know what it is!!!

well i think my parents picked up on it when iwas really young and ended up seeing different doctors and all these ones thats are meant to help me talk but none of them seemed to work it seemed to make me more silent

its where you have rules to who you will talk infront of my cla** mates and teachers have never heard me speak

i only talk infront of my family and 1 close friend

oh so it's been happening for a long time. are you just scared to talk or are there other reasons?

its almost like when people i dont know are around me i forget how to talk? its like i can say things in my mind and they wont come out aloud to anyone its kind of being stuck

oh so you want to talk but it just doesnt work. I cant say i have ever heard of that but it sounds very interesting. So have the doctors given you things to do that try to help it. or do they just look at you and be typical doctors.

they do the normal thing keep pasing you on to other people like they normal do they sometimes give you activities to do but not many of them work

oh i hate that about doctors. I have had to deal with that kind of thing. If you ever need some one to talk to you can message me.

ok thanks its just alot of people see it as i just dont want to and i;m being lazy etc and its not that at all

my friend does most my talking for me in school when my mum first took me to dr about it he said id grow out of it but i never really did

i had a large group of friends that i grew up with, so it wasn't too bad for me. i got along with them very well, so they covered for me.

i did have trouble at times when i was all alone with people i didn't know though. usually it was in the classroom and out at malls that i'd freak out!

when people would talk to me, i knew what i wanted to say, and i could see myself saying it in my head.....but it never would come out of my mouth like i intended. sometimes i'd just talk in such a low voice, or slur my words so bad that nobody could understand me. it wasn't intentional either....although my mom thought it was!

me and my friend ( i say friend and not friends because i only really have 1 that understands) when we get lunch in a shop from comming out of school id normally tell him what i wanted before we got there so hed cover me with that but this one time when i can in from school my mum had people over and i instantly froze up and id sometimes whisper but you could never hear what i was saying.. i say things in my mind and when it come 2 making the noise just didnt happen
