Dearest One, Permit me to inform you of my desire of going into business relationship with you. I am quite aware that my message will come to you as a surprise because it is indeed very strange for someone you have not met before to contact you in this regard. I am Ms Jane Sosa. My father was a very wealthy Cocoa merchant in Abidjan, the economic capital of Ivory Coast, my father was assassinated to death by his uncle on one of their outings on a business trip. My mother died when I was a baby and since then my father took me so special. Before the death of my father on March 2007 in a private hospital here in Abidjan he secretly called me on his bed side and told me that he has the sum of (Seven million, five hundred thousand United State Dollars).USD ($7.500, 000, 00) left in fixed / suspense account in one of the prime bank here in Abidjan, that he used my name as his only daughter for the next of Kin in depositing of the fund. Though, he was killed out of wickedness and jealousy. This is why I want to leave Africa to be protected under your care till such a time that I am grown enough to face the business that you will negotiate for me. Dear, I am honorably seeking your assistance in the following ways1) To open a new account in which this money would be transferred.(2) To serve as a guardian of this fund since I am only 18years.(3) To make arrangement for me to come over to your country to further my education and also to secure a resident permit in your country. Furthermore, dear please indicate your options towards assisting me as I believe that this transaction would be conclude within seven (7) days you signify your interest to assist me. Anticipating hearing from you urgently. With Regards. Jane Sosa

its a real shame.

its just ignorance,
like say a lot of our mothers could fall for it.
older people are vulnerable because they know less about the Internet and the scams that are perpetrated through it.

it doesn't means they're stupid, they just didn't know.

....well some of them are surely stupid
but picking on the mentally deficient is surely not cool either.

The set-up is always the same. Bad grammar and greedy relations and a need for you to protect them and give them your account details. And they always say they thought you to be trustworthy when they read your profile, even if the message comes through hotmail.

I left a trace on you lol

Assassinated to death, lol. Idk, but if I was gonna scam somebody, I'd at least want my message to look credible so they wouldn't suspect they were being scammed.

I always email them back asking them for a "show of faith" payment to my PayPal of $10.

They never bother you again.

I get emails like that every day. They are the same thing just the names, dollar amount and country might change. I dont know how anyone could actually do something like that knowing they are hurting others.

well, it's a pretty sad story. and some people like helping others.
but at the same time they are lying and some people might not notice that. so if someone gets an email like this it sometimes goes into you spam folder. a good tip is never open any message in your spam folder only if you know what it is. like sometimes when you sign up for something like a forum for example, your sometimes get a message telling you have to activate your account so you will be able to use it. that when you should go to your spam folder if you didn't find it in your inbox folder. it usually goes in your spam folder for most hotmail and yahoo accounts.
