PC GPUs have had 128-bit and 256-bit and even 384-bit processing for some time, I believe.

I'd actually prefer a cartridge based video game system.

With cartridges, you never needed memory cards or hard drives. Plus load screens were basically nonexistent. And they were quiet. And, by being non-mechanical, the hardware was more durable. And cartridges are much more durable than optical disks.

Course, they couldn't hold as much data for the same amount of money, which is the only reason we ever moved away from cartridge-based systems. Cartridges were better in every way except price.

Well, they are more durable and they have no load time. Or at least I haven't experienced any load time on a cart, other than Doom for the Atari Jaguar. lol

BTW, cartridges wouldn't be twice the capacity.

The PS3 uses 50GB Blu-Ray discs!

The PSP's UMDs are discs, not cartridges in any way. They are small optical discs, just like mini-CDs.

Technically, couldn't carts have unlimited capacity? Of course, the cost would be....somewhat higher.

For reference, a typical 32G flash card is around $170.
