and by 2 days the whole wall was covered in music s**t

it seemed like a starting a underground punk revolution until the school painted over the whole thing

Punk is dead. Punk is not a form of music, it was a counter-culture movement in the late seventies/early eighties.

There is a difference between music which sounds like the music created in the punk era to punk music.

I know alot of underground punk bands, and their just not the same as the old ones.

Do you not think that true punk now days is a counter-culture? And once again, I'm not talking about the bulls**t you see on MTV or the mall-punk stores like Hot Topic.

The main difference music wise between modern "punk" rock and old punk rock is the fact that this new underground stuff just sounds angry. It's like they are trying to sound angry, fast and tuneless. Thats not music.

The old punk bands carried a tune in their songs.

Do you really think bands like ANTI-CIMEX, SKITLICKERS, G.I.S.M., or DISCHARGE worried about making music? On the back of some DISCHARGE records, it even states, "Noise not Music". I think there was bubble gum punk and hardcore punk during every time period of punk as it should be. Some was underground just as it is now and some was in the pop charts because it was accepted by the more mainstream public. There were a lot of angry bands during the late 70's and early 80's as is there was in the 90's and now. Whether you know about them or not doesn't mean they suck or are great. It's all about what you were/are exposed to. Being angry doesn't necessarily make you punk and playing something more acceptable to the mainstream style doesn't make you less punk. Well, I'll stop my rant anyway.

Punk is a spirit that indeed is still around. Remember that, former punkers. It was never "just"about the music. We will always have the Psychedelic Furs, the Pumps, Sex Pistols,Blah blah blah LOL I loved the shock years

British punk was perfect punk and the only decnt american punk band were the Ramones

For someone in Europe to believe this is just fine...but not true for us here....FEAR was a real punk group too...

totally un respected by history.

I'm old enough to remember punk lingering on the shelf in the record store under the title "alternative" through the late eighties and early nineties ... This was the nucleus of real music that survived the big hair rockers, and the bubble gum pop of the eighties.

not always man. you do get yer angry shout UK82 style music in the underground but look more theres more bands that carry a sound, But we have something in common the spirit. My band play more like a sound of Ramones/ Clash/ The Nips, like punk with a steady beat with sung words, But we play with bands that go up and make a hell of alot noice. But the funny thing about that is my bands the average age of 17 and these uk82 styled bands are in there 30/40 odds.

Im not into much of the hardcore angry sound, hate how there hunners of bands coming out sounding like that there nt much induaviduallity nowadays(i cant really say too young) but im uessing from te bands i listen to alot from the 70' and 80's. I can name a few bands that can stand out to me from local scene's. Its not really about the music its more the attitude do it yourself really D.I.Y.

true punk's not dead, just very hard to find.
Green Day and bands you find on the radio are not punk.
what about the bands who actually believe and live what punk is actually about, like Leftover Crack or Ghost Mice?
