Can any one help me i've an assignment to be done in turbo pascal 1.5. and i don't have a clue about it......

"Write a program that asks the user for their name. The users name is then compared with a list of names held in an array in memory. This array should be filled inside the program. If the users name is in this list, display a suitable greeting, otherwise display the message 'name not found'."

Any help would be great.

Who the hell still uses Pascal?

I suggest you open your textbook or start attending class.

That's a pretty basic program, any Pascal book should give you the knowledge you need. Frankly beyond what's already written in the question, it'd be hard to help you without writing the program for you.

Get a Pascal textbook, lookup "array handling", "input" and "output". That should be enough.

Colleges around here use it as a introduction to programming, so i would imagine its something simillar there

Could be worse, my uni used Modula-2 as a learning program - at least in the computer science classes.

In Engineering they just jumped straight into C++.

In math, they used Fortran 77 or Fortran 90.

Does anyone even know any sites that would have any programs written out on them?

Dude, not to be rude, but you'll learn nothing just getting a program written out for you. If this is too difficult for you, then you need to re-evaluate your choice of course. No offense, but I could teach my mum to write this program.

Get a Pascal textbook, sit down and work it out.

At one of my colleges they did C++.
At another one they taught us LISP.

We did Pascal in high school.

Ok, if you have done any pascal then I am guessing this should be fairly straight forward. I wouldnt move on to Java until you have nailed the basics!
