You can just take the root out and put it in water for a bit, but that can cause rot, depending on how far gone the roots are..

I would suggest putting the root into an Orchid mix of dirt.. It's mostly wood chips. Then, don't water for a long time. Like 2 weeks - a month. Then, give it a good dose of fertilized water. Whatever fertilizer your local store has for orchids. They will usually have a mix for them specifically. It should burst back to life and it will astound you with its blooms if it survives.

From there, water sparingly, and only when it looks a little droopy. If the matrix that it is in smells funny, like dirty diapers, it is being over watered.

I had to work with those things all the time when I was in college. I worked at a plant/gift shop, and people would bring me their orchids to nurse. Phaelanopsis (I think that's how that word is spelled ) are my favorites.

Good luck!

um umm um um um um um...it' THAT good.

But Wesley, What of the R.O.U.Ses?
Rodents of Unusual Size? I don't believe in them.
