sorry to hear that, i can only imagine how tough that is.
i think in that situation you're best to just listen to the doctors and do all you can to help keep her strong mentally.
i hope it all works out for her.

Positivity plays a big part in any illness.....and being positive helps the drugs do thier work, if you truly want to try alternative therapies i suggest she tries spiritual healing. Find a spiritualist church in your area and go to one of the healing sessions i know i will probably get told it is all bulls**t but where is the harm in trying? be open-minded to alternative therapies and go and try it out

I know of instances when severe athritic hands have been cured thru this and it really does work

I go to my local spiritual church for faith healing, ive suffered chronic leg pain since i was a kid and it helps alot...it maybe all in my head but i find comfort in it.
I hope your friend finds something to help her condition...maybe homeopathy which i also swear by, my daughter was diagnosed with TB when she was 4 and i used homeopathy treatments as well as conventional treatment to balance her out abit, she recovered really well from it.
Aromatherapy, refloxology, meditation are also lovely ...or maybe a good old fashioned massage to settle her mind so she contunues to heal properly.

If it's white, sticky and not yours dont touch it.

She can try spiritual 'healing' if it gives her hope but please don't allow her to do this instead of actual treatment. This is one of those times when tolerance of alternative views has to collide with morality.

This study found an increased survival rate for women with breast cancer when they ate more fruit AND were physically active like walking. But either of those two things independently had no effect, it was when they were used together that it made an impact on survival. link [www.medpagetoday.com]

I think the above relates to reoccurance after successful treatment. It doesn't claim that fruit and/or physical activity is effective treatment for those with cancer.

i have to agree with thefourfouldroot, by all means have "complimentary" therapy but please not alternative.

I am so sorry for your friend, i know chemo is just so awful, basically it is killing her slowly. Please try and keep her positive and to remind her daily how important she is to those who love her and how you all need her to hang in there and be brave.

Chemo or radiotherapy really is the only way if thats what her Consultant has suggested. She is in good hands and the main thing is to keep her as positive and loved as possible right now. Try and get her to agree to more treatment if you can. There is a chance she could pull through this.

Is it true that some countries use lavendar IV's instead of chemo?

I havent heard that, there is a certain herb/flower that is supposed to compliment the treatment of cancer but as far as i know in the UK chemo/radiotherapy are still the main treatments.

Yeah, I read recently they discovered an herb that enhances the effectiveness of the chemo treatment, I just can't remember which one it was.

I know that selenium deficiency is strongly associated with cancer, maybe she could take some of that (not too much! it can be toxic in high enough doses, which in the case of selenium isn't much at all, so be careful!) I'm not recommending this as an alternative, but as a supplement to her treatment.

Really, i don't think anyone here is going to tell you, 'try this instead of chemo' because cancer is just too serious to mess around with.

No offence here mate but u obviously know nothing of healing and its benefits....many doctors accept Spiritual healing as a positive form of healing...also part of the healing code is to never take healing as the only option. We healers encourage our patients to take healing along with modern medicine and treatments

I admit i've had no personal experience and have done no research on the topic of spiritual 'healing' (sorry, just can't leave out the quotation marks). The question was about 'alternative' methods though, so your (illuminating) claim that a spiritual healer will not advise this as only treatment is not really relevant.

There are probably more suitable threads in which to discus this though, so i'll leave off there.
