Anyone else find this amusing?

probably a translation unless they read fluent arabic. I can't and
read the translation, it does upset me quite often & your friend
is right. At the time of the prohet, p.b.u.h., poetry was popular
and an artistic way of keeping stories around. As muslims we believe
that the Koran was delivered to Mohammed, p.b.u.h. in a series of
revelations by GOD over time and recored word for word in verses
and books in the Koran. At the time it was the most beautiful piece
and considered a miracle by many. Let me get back to the negative
stuff though, it will say something against Jews for example, or
disbelievers... Now those specific words are "translated" from the
orginal meaning from sheiks in the sunni world. Keep in mind of all
the tension that's developed since the state of Israel. Look at the
dates of the translation!!! Now Jews was not the original word but
that original word meant "disbelievers of the messenger" (and it
does not say kill them) but they will not be in GODS favor. and
"disbelievers" a.k.a. "infidel" or non-muslim... is not at all
what disbeliever is! Because anyone who believes in the monotheistic
GOD is a believer, an atheist is a disbeliever. Who is anyone to
say that a Christian or other is a disveliever, we are not in the
position to judge and those people are falsly led! I really wish
that the English versions could be written by an American Muslim
so there would not be political motives. But Islam in general does
need to be more accepting of Christians and Jews and if we can't
pick apart the problems in our own faith I don't see how we can be
living up to the standards that the previous prophets set. Not to
go on and on. But Jesus, p.b.u.h. message was unique compared to all
the prophets before him and Muhammad , p.b.u.h. was also nicer than
he is portrayed because his successors were not all that nice causing
Islam to split in sevaral paths. His message was more strict but
it makes sense considering what was to come in the world. And at
Jesus time, p.b.u.h. it was soo vulgur that they needed someone to
teach peace and acceptence.

In religious scripture, which was written thousands of years ago, there is plenty of room for both moderate and extremist interpretations. Both of them are wrong, but that's irrelevant; the fact that anyone takes the teachings of primitive, long-dead cultures seriously means someone is going to get hurt, badly. Better to just keep our heads firmly in the present instead of living in the dark ages.
This is not aimed at any religious tradition in particular, but applies to practically all religions, including the one in question. | | | Edited: April 05, 2008 @ 15:18
