I respect that you've been in the front line, but also feel it may have skewed your view somewhat. That the people you are fighting are Muslims does not mean all Muslims are terrorists. It's not a two way implication. You may be able to say "most terrorists are Muslim", or even "all terrorists are Muslim", but the inverse is not necessarily true.
I'm here to let you know that I work with a lot of Muslims, both in the United States, and in their home nations. Most Muslims are just like you and I, they want only to make their way through life, providing food and support for their families. They couldn't give a crap about the US. Many are employed by US corporations (my company employs many in the region), and happy to be so.
Again, I respect, and do not refute your personal experience. But most Muslims are not terrorists, even if you believe most terrorists are Muslim.

then can ya answer this question. while some i get on with very well and wouldnt change that, why do quite alot come across as moody sods and hardly say a thing even though theyre capable of talking english when i serve them in asda?

You say Muslims and Islams. Muslims belong to the religious group that practices Islam; I don't know about calling them Islams

Thats one broad statement you made there.
Did you ever think that the current regime wants you to "think" that Muslims are the bad guy? Because, in your position, a second thought that would make them people, might make you doubt your job. Military, not just ours, but historically speaking, tries to dehumanize the other side so that it is easier to fight, and yes, to kill.
And obviously, if you had even taken the time to crack the Qur'an you would know that the extremists are as about as religious as Rush Limbaugh, and they do not practice anything but hypocrisy.
People forget, Muhammed Ali is a Muslim and and has been since 1975. Don't see him blowing up anything.

Frankly, given the number of bigoted assholes that think they're all terrorists and that we should turn the middle east into a sea of glass, I'd probably be a little wary around us too.
And also because some religious people are terrorists, as are some non religious people. Some terrorists are religious and some are not too.
It is very handy to lump a whole race of people together and give them a character trait.....handy and racist.
Religion is usually based on a pure message from the "enlightened one" which is subsequently misinterpreted by all of us stupid sods that aren't enlightened. | | | |

I'm English. I lived in England until I was 26.
Some English are happy, carefree, welcoming and loving. Many are miserable bastards who like to complain about f**king everything and are only happy when they are complaining. What's more, they will complain about everything from the NHS to illegal immigration, even if they've personally felt no ill effects from them whatsoever.
Just like the rest of the western world, really.
