I have heard that too, and when you look at the spectacular crashes they have, no wonder, but is it sport in the true sense? It is more in line with those other dangerous occupations like deep sea trawling, construction work etc., anywhere where you have machinery flying about is bound to be dangerous.
Mind you, hockey sticks seem to flail about like some sort of demented machine!
