you cannot die from lack of sleep in itself, but you could die from an accident due to lack of sleep, does that make sense?

well i don't think insomnia causes death. it causes tiresome and exhaustion because of sleeping lack.

Pretty sure your body can basically shut down from lack of sleep.
I know it's not good for your mental health. You would lose your mind if you didn't sleep for long enough.
