55/NA/Norman, Join Date: Apr 2008 | There are many degrees of Bipolar disorder. If they aren't too extreme, the manic highs can be really wonderful. Energetic, creative, charming, the life of the party, and more. Unfortunately they almost always alternate with depresive states that can be downright destructive. They can be hard to spot, too, because they may last for hours each or for months or even years. I was diagnossed in 1985 and, yes, I MISS my manic highs. I don't miss the lows and I don't miss the stupid things I did because I felt invincible. Sometimes finding the right medication that controls the symptoms without totally wiping out the personality is difficut. I know it is worth it. I rather like being sane (whatever that is...) | | |
