Not really, the best thing about them is you get to join an elite group of people who go around laughing at people with messy desktops while secretly wishing they could play games

Why bother with an expensive paperweight that isn't compatible with anything.

If it is games that you are after, forget it, they are not upgradable in terms for gaming....the main object of owning a Mac, is for either a) Writing a book b)Newspaper Column c)Video Editing, most pros use it for that reasons d)Music editing, like I said, most pros use Macs for that reason alone

I was just looking for something "smooth", fast, reliable, but i do not really see myself getting one.

Better with a pc mate, you will get a smooth fast reliable PC for around about £500 (i dunno about dollars but it will cost less in the US) but a mac will be over £1000

In terms of normal computer use, there is nothing that makes a mac stand out.

My friend compared prices yesterday. He says the cheapest imac is $2,199 NZD or something.
The PC equivalent, a computer with windows you can build with the same specs, around $880 NZD.

I haven't actually checked these numbers myself, but it's something to think about.

Don't get an iFail. They look good, but well not worth the money. Now if you can find someone to build you a pc. That's your ticket right there. You can get an absolute monster of a machine for about 1/4 of the price.

As has been mentioned - the only real reason is if you intend to use it for some kind of professional use, as the system works far better than a PC system running Windows.

It's a niche market...

?I'm messing with ya, you should know that a computer isn't always as good as it's OS i could take my s***ty old laptop and install windows 7 ultimate on it and it would run (barely)
Just having windows 7 on a computer doesn't make it good, everything else counts to.
I have a good enough media PC right now that can play pretty much any game and i have both ubuntu linux and windows vista on it. (linux runs better.)
