is the 360 fan supposed to keep spinning after i switched it off?
will it turn of on its own?

Mine stays on sometimes. Usually I ust turn it on and turn it off again though - I don't know how long you have to turn it back on for though because I usually stick another game in for a bit.

When i borrowed me mates, it stayed on for about 2 mins.. maybe a little longer.. but it does depend on how long you have had it on.. i found it got warm quickly..
