When you have a problem with a coworker that you are unable to solve after approaching them- which in this case is a recurrent problem, you DO take it to your boss/HR... That isn't called snitching! That is called being a professional- these are your coworkers- not friends, you are there to WORK- and anything that disrupts that purpose is to be taken to your supervisor or the HR department!
You have NO authority to "handle it" (except letting the person know their actions bother you- maybe once) unless you are their supervisor and unless I am misunderstanding what you mean by "handling" the issue.
Dealing with it through your supervisor or HR is NOT snitching- it is called acting in a professional manner!
yeah it is professional, you'll still lose respect. What kind of man are you if you cant deal with your own problems? I work outside well with other people who think more or less like I do, and I do have the authority to handle it, but thats besides the point.
If you have to tell your boss cause you couldn't handle it yourself like an adult then you failed.

And BTW- if acting via proper channels is considered "snitching" then "handling" it for your boss (and then bringing it to his notice) could be considered worse- brown-nosing/ass-kissing! And that is bound to make you lose "respect" faster than you can say "snitch!"
See- you can put a RIDICULOUS spin on anything... Just follow proper procedure, keep everything aboveboard and professional and let the others worry about the labels! **shrugs
ahh my bad about the man thing. You would think a good boss finds out anyways, mine does.
I am pretty sure that the reason we disagree on this is because of what we do. On a typical day I only work with one other person from my company, and he does whatever I tell him to, he's good at his job well. If i was trying to shoot an HCS and it was covered with like 3 feet of dirt, I would tell one of the workers from whatever company got the contract for the dirt work to clear it out, and if he didn't I would make him, not tell his boss. I suppose office work is different but I never have done that before, and hopefully i never will.

Once you tell your boss something about another co-worker everyone finds out somehow, and then you find out that no one will talk to you and you'll be left out of everything because they won't trust you with anything lest you go to the boss.
All your co-workers will not trust you with anything and look down on you, even if it is the proper procedure. JMO
I laugh, I love, I hope, I try, I hurt, I need, I fear, I cry. And I know you do the same things too, So we're really not that different, me and you.
