I am trying to find out if word stuffing is something that will get a web site banned by search engines? If word repeating is not good, how many times is best to not go over.

I have heard conflicting information on this topic myself. I have heard that repeating something too much can damage your reputaion with the engines and possibly get banned, but I have also heard that you need to repeat it enough to be recognized for what your site is about.
I would say that a safe bet would be to just stay informative about your subject of interest. Repeat it a few times in your text, but use variations as well. As with money, you could use bucks, mulah, wealth, etc...
Best of luck to you.

that is a hot topic.

I have some websites that ranks well with a given keyword without having this word in my sites content... (have it only in anchor links).
On the other side, i have sites that do not rank that well. (got penalized by google), just because i "over" seo them.
I would advice not overdoing it, having the keyword in the title tag + some anchor links to your site + less than 5% of word repeated in your website.

Doesnt this play into keyword density, if its over a certain percentage then its going to get kicked back by the search engine? Thats the last thing I had read up on this saying that (esp google) most SE's will ban you for it.

Don't stuff your words, you will get sandboxed by google. that tactic was used in the early 90's and worked well then but not now. Your best bet is to create (write) original content.

Original content, I agree. The hunt for new stuff is top of the list with SEO. Backlinks are important. You might try searching for a free tool that will rate your website looking for SEO trouble, broken links, etc. Good luck.

I heard now and days it's just the keyword in your site and the web bar title that gets noticed.
