I recently had to have a hysterectomy at age 25 because of cancer and have dealt with a lot of stupid comments from people because I cannot breed anymore. I am sick of the pity and the snide comments that are made by people who think a womans worth is what can pa** between her thighs. It gets worse when I tell them I never wanted children, like somehow I am a freak of nature for it.

I know I am not the normal age for this. I know I should not have to deal with a change of this magnitude. I know you think I should "go forth and multiply" but I can't. My reasons for this surgery are my own. You have no right to twist that little knife in even further each time you make that comment. I am not something to be pitied just because I am only 25 years old.

Stop saying it. Do not pity me because I made the choice of my health over breeding. I never wanted kids in the first place. To be honest, I don't like them. They are loud and smelly and just plain annoying. I may adopt children when I know I can be an amazing parent but until then I will stand by my goal of never having to change a diaper and never having to wake up at 3 am to feed a screaming infant.

Do not treat me like there is something wrong with me. I am a woman and I am strong but I just cannot take it anymore. Being young is not a curse; this surgery is not a curse. It may very well have saved my life.

My aunt and uncle have been together for about 22 years now and about 2 years into their relationship they found out they couldn't have kids.
At first they were sad and accepted peoples sympathy, but they feel it's made them better people.

Now they fully agree they're glad they were unable to concieve. My aunt has a wonderful career, which would have been affected by children, my uncle lavishes on hobbies - such as motorbikes and he's now a qualified hot air balloon pilot. And they travel the world.

They have 2 dogs, Sula and Brody, who they treat as children. They adore those dogs and everyone who knows them adores them too.
My aunt and uncle together with their dogs make one hell of a family and I'm damn proud of the life they've made.

So good on you for thinking the way you do and I can only wish you best with everything.

Sounds odd, but I think a lot of the attitude you're getting from people has to do with your location. I've noticed in more metropolitan areas people are having fewer and fewer kids. So many people I know opt to have pets instead. You're not alone and it's perfectly normal to choose to not have children for whatever reason.

This shocks me, to hear that people are upset because you needed surgery for cancer, and now you can no longer have kids?

Your health comes first and foremost! I'm just annoyed with whoever is giving you negative comments at such an enduring time in your life, do they not realize that surgery saved your life? who cares about having kids?

god bless!

got a face job done, like it?

That really sucks that people are still so close-minded and stupid.
Unfortunately, even with all our advances and women gaining equality (I won't
say we're equal, that would be a lie!), there's still the misconception that all
women are maternal and want kids.

It's perfectly fine that you don't want kids. I personally would rather have a
few cats! They're cheaper, take care of themselves and are cuddly for ever.
Eventually, kids grow up

Next time someone says something about kids, point out that while they go
into mountains of debt supporting their little angels, you get to spend your
money on important stuff, like holidays Oh, and no stretch marks!

One day, if you ever want kids, you could always adopt, and give an unloved
child a home. That I'm sure would be much more rewarding

I hope you stick around on TFS

Darest Nifty, Just found your post. Hope you find mine.
I had a hysterectomy at 24 (also cancer) and found that if, when people ask about us having children, I would look like I was about to burst into tears and mumbled something about "We can't" they would drop the subject. Now, with out the burst into tears part you're going to just get a bunch of "Oh, you can adopt..." so it's important.
I am now 55 and if why we didn't have kids comes up I tell people it's because I couldn't survive in jail and by now I would have killed them.

I am 45, never had any interest in getting entangled with anyone and never, ever wanted kids.
I met a guy who is 42 and doesn't want kids either. How refreshing to be baggage free!!
Choosing to live child free is becomming more popular. I don't have any friends with kids either. If people think that means I have something wrong with me they can piss off.
At least my day doesn't begin and end with a hissy fit and all my meals are peaceful as well.

People get offended because misery loves company! Their lives are constant chaos and they can't stand to see someone that isn't pulling their hair out!!!
