Do people with permits not think that way?

Yeah but with permits the use could be monitored. The privalage taken away if necessary.

And if she's so against things being used for weapons, then she shouldn't use forks, spoons, plastic bags, baseball bats, chairs. You know why? Because all of them can be abused and used as weapons.

True, ordinary objects be used as weapons. Forks probably wouldn't be fatal though. True, a plastic bag can be used to suffocate someone, but think about it for a second. THat's going to take a couple of minutes and momentary anger would, probably, wear-off before you managed it. I'd like to know how a spon could be used to kill unless it was involved in poisoning someone. Baseball bats are also plausible weapons. Chairs, hmmm, probably not so much. You wouldn't carry these outdoors for self defense and most people use them for what they're MEANT to be used for, which is harmless. Weapons such as the gun however, have only become more deadly since their invention, not less. While the taser is not particularly harmful, it can kill. It can also be tampared with to make it more deadly and is not easily accessable in an enmergency and remember, that is the main feature you want for a defensive weapon so that if some pushes you down into some bushes, you can pull it out easily.
A personal alarm is probably more effective. It attracts attention and deafens the attacker. It also cannot be used for offense.

I also wonder what world you live in if you think everyone will be willing to learn karate, and that a burglar won't kill you if youtry to stop him from robbing your house. A happy and fairy-tale world I suppose.

I live in a place more real than Gotham city. Sure, people are killed in robberies gone wrong but you're more likely to be killed by a friend losing it and using a weapon he carried for "defense" than by a burglar. I think everyone should be taught basic defense skills in P.E. It's probably more useful than tag rugby or football.

But, you DO know that anything can be used to kill, and you said you wanted all weapons that can be abused and used to kill should be banned, and instead people should learn how to defend themselves without weapons.

At least the people in Gotham City aren't nuts, why do you think I chose to live there?

I'm sorry, but you want kids and everyone to learn basic defense skills in P.E.? Yeah, then they can kill each other with their bare hands.

I wouldn't expect everyone to use it purely for defense but seriously, you would be better off. At least then you'd have a fighting chance either way.

With weapons I mean objects made to cause harm. I know pretty much most of the objects that can be used as a weapon. Read my profile. I'm a forensics student. Crimes and how to solve them is our subject.

Anyways, I'm off out of here. You obviously cannot think of any situation where someone cannot eat dinner without stabbing someone with a fork, which, btw, is a very crappy example.

P.S You spelt bare wrong.

And you continue to think of old ladies and kids learning karate in P.E. instead of basketball and baseball. Also stupid. I've read your posts and you've made plenty of typos.

You're idea of self defense is simply too far fetched and too far left Liberal for anyone to take it seriously.

I had a good laugh with this thread, but all good things must come to an end.

no i think theu jst went mental and struck as wildly and as often as they could, then u could clean the spoon and if anyone finds traces of blood on it u could say it was from cookin something. however that is assuming the soco didnt do the test for identifying if it human blood, which they would so ur f**ked

I'm sorry this thread got so heated. I really only wanted to find the significance in hosting a "taser party" and turning a weapon into a new accessory. I found the idea ludicrous. If you're going to market a weapon, it shouldn't be appealing.

The goal of the parties isn't to turn a "weapon" into an accessory.

They're to spread information about tasers as self-defense weapons.

Your straw man "they're parties, so they must treat tasers as fashion!" is silly, unjustified, and unfair. Of course that idea is ludicrous. Good thing that's not how anyone is promoting them.

Strange. My gran just saw on the news a self-defense cla** which shows people how to use walking sticks for self-defense.

No worries, I had some good laughs with all the radical Liberal ideas that found their way in here.

Yeah, weapons are never pretty, but are sometimes needed for self-defense.
