I think you need between 256mb and 512mb to play the most recent games on high settings

take care

Nope, not at high specs anyway.

plus how much memory a card has isn't the only thing you have to worry about.

i think the minimum vRAM needed to run current games on low settings is sadly 256mb.

that's the nature of the beast unfortunately.
If you don't have the $ for an upgrade then I would stick with console gaming.

Most system requirements for newer games suggest at least 1gb.

Ditto el diablo's response. To keep up with games, I wouldn't go lower than 1 GB and you'd be better off with 2 GB. Otherwise, you also need to verify you have a decent processor, video card, etc., or your memory's not going to do you a damned bit of good during play time.

Both el diablo and paramour are right. You need to have all-around good specs for your computer. If you do not then it is pointless attempting to play new games on your PC. I know that probably in the next two years my card is going to be pointless. I have a Geforce 7600 GT with 256mb or memory. As for processor and RAM, I have a socket 939 AMD athlon 64 3700+ 1mb L2 cache and 1GB DDR 400hz pc3200. I know they are all last gen specs but I will probably build me a new computer and put linux on this one.

You vid card may not support T&L even if you got the RAM

My computer only has 1gb and it struggles with the most recent of games but is fine for most (even runs bf2 fine) although the thing that is normally the main problem for people is the graphics card as they need updating the most
