I did read the thread but i wanted to say what happened to me on friday

back to the black people part... i guess that just may be a regional or area thing, because i know everyone is different in all parts of the country, including black people. maybe the ones in the south...or in the Atlanta metro area just don't realize you're expected to tip in the United States. I always figured it was one of those grudges dating back 300 years ago to slavery (like Affirmative Action)

no worries treac! i do understand ya anderson mate, for instance yesterday there was a muslim couple in who, spilt coffee all over their table, so i went over cleaned their entire table replaced any food or drink that had been affected by the spillage, and offered to move them if they didn't wish to sit at a table with a damp table cloth even tho the cafe was crowded, and after all this they didn't even tip me a single penny, i was so pissed off its quite unbelievable!!

If you are being served well by your waiter/waitress then why shouldn't you tip? Are people that cheap they can't tip a few dollars for a good service to them?

as we have also said brainfarmer, it is understandable if a not well off family do not tip, and also that we understand ppl not tipping if they recieve bad service, it is almost as if showing appreciation for some1 going out of their way to help you even though they do not have to, basically if you gat rid of tips the quality of service would probably drop as well as the prices going up, and to be honest i don't care that much about how much i get tipped, for instance the other day a couple tipped me about 50p but i still appreciated it, even though that would buy me nothing, but then maybe im slightly different to a lot of waiters

so raditz, u are saying that u must be stupid to be a waiter? many ppl do not have much of a choice in the matter, maybe it is the only job available in their area, or maybe they are not that intelligent (does low intelligence mean that you do not deserve as good a lifestyle as any1 else?) all you have proved in that comment is not that you are smarter because you do not work as a waiter (even tho u may be smarter) u have simply provewd that you are ignorant!

do you tip the police if they make a speedy arrest? or tip a fireman who saves your house from burning, do you tip an airline pilot who flies you from a to b. if you dont like being a waiter or waitress dont do it and i see a hint of racism in the black people and muslim people dont tip. in some cultures tipping is acceptable in others its not even considered. this topic has made me think im never tipping again ever
