any serious attention given to a stereotype is racist. fortunately most of us are politically correct enough to ignore or wave a disapproving finger at racist issues, rather than address them as though they had any meaning. you certainly couldn't play devil's advocate (or god forbid, relate to such an idea) long enough to make a point, and consider yourself a member of polite society.

This is not true of all Black people. I am Black and I always leave a tip. I tip anywhere from 15 to sometimes up to 30 percent based on the level of service I receive. If you give me average service I tip 20 percent. If I get above average service, I tip anywhere from 25 to 30 percent. If I get below average (and one example of below average, is one time I had to literally beg for a second cup of coffee and silverware, and the food arrived late to boot, because our server simply forgot) you get 15 percent. Bad tipping, or no tipping at all is not just confined to one race or another. While some races may tip better than others, you will always find a few or more El Cheapos in all races.

Well, I'm black and I ALWAYS tip...very well I might add. It is just plain rude not to tip, the service that is being rendered is a courtsey to the public not a right. I don't think most ppl realize that.

no, a courtesy is free. it is a service, like you said. one i'm paying for to begin with, and one i'll pay extra for if possible and merited. you are of course, welcome to tip every time, and that's nice of you.

i am white and i rarely tip,the only time they do is if they go above good service,the same with cab drivers as far as im concerned they already get paid to do that job and they agreed to work there for the wage which they agreed on.

your paying their wages...its their job they're not entitled to anymore than their wages,.

Even if I told the world, it would not be enough coz it was not said to you..

Tipping a server for erving you is why you should tio ,, if you don;t want to be waited on hand and foot why not stay home get your own drinks make and carry your own food clear your oewn tanble and while your at it wash your own dishes,, see what you are paying menu prices for is the food or the drink

Please excuse the mis spelling this is a subject that gets me twisted,, people that keep comming back cuz I'm such a good server but don't tip, they start getting just what they pay for, the food

The waitress does get paid a wage to perform a job. If she gives me excellent service she will receive a tip.....if not, no. A tip is a bonus for excellent service, not for a service they are already being compensated for.

Saying black people never tip is a sweeping generalization, just because some black people dont tip doesnt mean all of them dont, saying that would be like me saying that since some white people are racist all white people are racist.

i would consider complaining about service that seemed deliberately bad. it's not black and white (pun not intended) like you make it out to be, it's a balance of server and customer doing their best to be fair to each other. not everyone can afford to tip all the time. i don't care about that. they shouldn't be told "don't eat at a restaurant, then." if the people that tip better get really good service though, i'm fine with that. really the cheap restaurant ought to pay the servers better.
