being a server and bartender in numerous restaurants and bars in my life i've realized that black people do not tip their server or bartender. i've even worked with other black people who didn't want to serve a black party because they knew they wouldn't tip. now granted this doesn't apply to all black customers because i've had some (very rarely) to tip me decently (18%+). but i can safely say that 90% of the black customers i've served at all my jobs have tipped 5% or less... usually whatever change is left over out of a dollar. Also they ask what everything costs when the price is right on the menu in front of them, PLUS they ask for EVERYTHING extra that they can, and complain about anything and everything they possible! So in turn you work twice as hard for one table and instead of getting a tip, you end up having to pay for part of their meal (most restaurants require servers to tip out 2-3% of their total sales)

coz they have more sense to pay extra for a service they have already payed for. and its also a sweeping generalisation.

i am a waiter however living in england i dont frequently get very many black customers, although i do get a few muslim customers and i have noticed a similar occurance, is it really that severe?! although i suppose if u look at the average incomes between white and black ppl in america, black ppl generally make a lot less money and this may therefore be a viable reason why a lot of black ppl are less generous

you get payed buy your boss to work why should someone else have to pay you as well?

i hate tipping and find it really strange the stuff you are 'expected' to tip for and the stuff its expected you dont. i mean whoever tips the check out person at the supermarket coz they are very quick and do their job well, but go to a restaurant and its expected that you will.

I dont get tipping, why do i have to give you money for somthing your getting paid to do in the first place

im not sure how it is in other countries but i only make about $2.14 an hour (about 1/3 of the minimum wage per hour in my state) which is legal only because it's assumed that i make tips. so in turn tips become about 90% of my total income, so if i dont receive a tip, im basically paying for a portion of the customer's meal. Like i said, it's usually required that we tip out 2-3% of total sales to bus boys, bar backs, and host/hostesses, etc. anyone that doesn't tip... i feel like kicking in the face

seems tipping is expected were you pay after youve used the service and not when you pay at once. well thats my theory.
