Pay per click advertizing is a good option and with google it is adsednse. Advertizing thru classified sites like craig, kijiji, backpages etc will also have traffic. Facebook and myspace promotions are also better.

everyone is telling you to start on google,facebook, myspace please be very carful when using such because you can easy pay £1 per click! (depends on keyword) im doing free (yes i said free) advertising and seeing about 100 people per day come to my site. I have even made videos on how to get free traffic/ Please message me for info. id be happy to help!

the type of advertising you do will depends mostly on what kind of business it is you're trying to advertise. Is it an online business or an offline business, first of all. Do you offer a product or a service, or is it a referral type business...lots of factors. Without knowing what your business is, you can't really get good specific advice.

Try small online newspapers. Most major metrocenters have newspapers that go out to niche markets which are not too expensive to advertisie in, $100 per year sometimes, and they have readers that will click.
