Mid twenties. Though I think by the time your in your mid-twenties you're in that awkward stage of being too old to be clubbing but also being too young in the bar/jazz/pub scene.

I'm one to two years younger than most of my friends and I've always felt a bit awkward. It definitely sucked when they all turned 21 and I was still 19.

It might also be very different in the UK compared to the US.

We cannot legally drink until we're 21 which make most of the best clubs only accessible at age 21, whereas you guys can drink at a much younger age.

I don't think that there is any wrong age to go out "clubbing" ... but I can see how seeing folks of an older crowd... (i am 30 btw - including myself)... always out at the club leaving the impression that they do not have very many life responsibilities... nor kids. And if they do... well... may give ideal to their situation .... maybe part-time parent (off weekends). If they are full time parents... then.. well.. that just looks bad.

That being said ... a single person.. no fam/kids... or even couple, that hasn't started a family yet (and like to have fun.. i.e. go out) ... easier to socially be ok with such things.

But then you have the downside.. where they may be judged and assumed of as people who do not want to "grow up" ... When... (for the most part).. it is as simple as ... "My life is not in a place that requires such change..yet" for most people.

Those who are willing to make the changes in life as life changes... don't need to practice before it time... Although.. it is easy for society to look at those who do not and are not doing so... as those who can't.

Ever hear anyone say "I can't see (insert name) as a family person" or something along the lines ... and the person is a family/responsible person saying it? It is almost like they forgot that they were like the person they are criticizing... before responsibility fell in their laps.

Disclaimer: Some folks never do s*** or anything chill all of their lives.. Come out ready for responsibility from the get go. EVeryone else.. yeah... we been some form or fashion ridiculous in life before life gave us more important things to be mindful of.

lol...sorry for the rant... Good topic

I don't think you're ever really 'too old to go clubbing' but eventually you would be too old for certain clubs.

I think if you check out a couple different places, eventually you'll find a place that you don't feel out -of-place in.

I'm 23 right now but when I started drinking over 5 years ago I wasn't to picky cause i didn't know much about liquor quality; i used to go anywhere that the drinks were cheap.

Now I'm a bit more discerning so I go to places with higher-quality alcohol. The clubs and bars I go to now are dramatically different but they're still clubs.

If you enjoy it, its never too old... There's all kinds of different clubs, and many are directed towards older, more mature crowds.

That being said, I've never been a club person... When I turned 21 I tried out strip clubs a few times... Grossed me out that girls just crawl all over these nasty sweaty dudes for a dollar... Then I tried traditional clubs, but I dont dance... So that was out... Then I went to bars for a while, but realized I don't like places that the main thing to do is drink... So now I dont go unless one of my friend's bands are playing... Its cool to go somewhere that happens to serve alcohol and drink. Like bowling or something... But I tend to steer clear of places that revolve around alcohol.

I quit clubbing when I could no longer swing a Louisville slugger hard enough to kill those critters.

In Chesterfield there used to be a guy in his 80s who would go into the main club Escapade every now and then and the reason for this was that he had an agreement with his wife that he could go clubbing when he wanted as part of the marriage...he was still doing it you are never too old

I tried the club thing a couple times back in my early twenties.
Never could get into it.

When is it time to quit?
When it stops being fun.
If my white-haired parents want to go hang out in loud, crowded clubs then good on 'em.
If my children want to stay home, make quilts, and listen to Lawrence Welk music...that's fine too.

Hubbie and I go to clubs if they have a really good band because we love to dance and listen to music. I haven't been "clubbing" since I was single. All I remember is the stink of cigarette smoke, that was back when EVERYONE smoked (but me, it seemed!!)

I think when a person reaches their fifties that they are too old to go clubbing. By then, they know what it is like and probably lost interest in doing that.
