I've got a wasp nest in my garden and I'm not sure what to do about it, wasps terrify me so I don't want them anywhere near my house!

Exterminators probably charge a fortune so I was wondering if there's anything I could do by myself that could take care of them, kinda like when you pour boiling water on an ants nest, you know?

Anyone?

You could buy a spray from a home improvement/garden store. My suggestion would be to spray at night so you don't get stung

After you clear nest (kill the buggers) DO NOT tear down the nest! As long as the nest is there, no other wasps will build there, and they will not move into old nests.

seriously get an expert in to do it, not that expensive, check out the small ads in local freenie paper or the phone directory, shop around they are desperate for the work.

if you agitate the nest, it will provoke them and if one stings you, it omits a scent that stirs up the others and they also will attack.

Pest Control is expensive usually but apparently in some cases is free.

My mate works for Pest Control at Edinburgh Council so anytime we have a problem we just get him to do it. He pigeon proofed my flat yesterday.

There are places you can call they come get them[bees and everything] and use them for to make injections for shots to use in people who are allergic . I know my parents would call, you cant spay them if you do this.
At least here in Michigan we have that,I think they do this through Michigan State University

I don't know if your council works the same but ours have a flat rate of £ 25, it may be £30. I know cos I had one in my loft last year

I have problems with them too being in the country now. I even had trouble with them when I was in the city. I have someone take care of them for me, because I am allergic to them. I know it is best to wait until evening when they are less active. I've seen people use bee sprays from the stores on their nests as well as burning them depending on where they are. If you try to drown them in water, I am not sure it will kill them all. A poison is probably best but I'd suggest getting someone to do it for you. That stuff is nothing to mess around with either.

Calling an exterminator as a first resort seems a bit extreme to me. It's not as if they are in your house buzzing around right?

how about get a tennis bat (how well do you like your neigbours?) and hope you get it with one hit
