So I was just at Bowls and I got talking to some people about jobs. And I was wondering, what do we need more of, you know, plumbers, electricians, nurses, teachers, etc?

I want to do something that is useful, rather than something that would not necessarily be useful.

So, my question is, what are the job sectors that need more workers?

Obviously, this relates to the country I live in but any sort of input/advice would be great.

You'll be much happier in life if you find something you love to do and then figure out a way to earn money at it.

I love to do research and interviews, projects, writing, etc.
I agree with what you say, but how useful will it be and how long will it last?

Research?
That's a never-ending thing. You'll always have something to do in Research.
Vets, Doctor's, Dentist's... All get money coming in pretty quick.
You could become a lawyer but then nobody would like you.

Jouranlist if you like writing. There's always news stories to be printed.

Everything will be okay
Everything will be all right
If I could away from her
And save my worthless life...

Everything you wrote points at journalism. You'd have a blast!

People don't like journalists either!
But I have thought about doing that.
And I also have not very many good qualifications. How would I do research or become a lawyer or journalist?

I'm trying to look at this realistically. What can I do ASAP to get me working at a career I know I could do and would enjoy. I'm willing to learn and do training and I don't just want a dead end job. I want something longterm that's needed and useful.

Really? I've considered it before but not done much about it.
Thanks for the advice and directing me in a direction!

Colleges run courses on Journalism, a full time course is usually only 3 or 3.5 days, I studied a full time course, worked part time and brought up 3 young children (4'6 and at the same time so it can be done whilst working too.

lol
You're right... Lots of people don't like Journalists.
But if you stick to your guns and are willing to get your story, you can go pretty far. Big name journalist get paid a lot.
But it's a slow start, I think, when you have to work your way up.
I think it'd be a fun kinda job, though.

This is true but what about funding? Colleges would help with that, right. Since I'm not working?

I think it would be great too. But just getting started is the problem!

I thought nurses were always in demand.

Ok, this is how it was when I was lecturing a few years back... If your on benefits you can get your course paid for you, however, once you sart a "full time" course the dwp will see you as unavailable for work.. Yep, nightmare, the best thing you can do is go to the local job centre, due to the ecconomic climate they are relaxing the rules a bit its woth checking.
