That makes sense, and I do agree.
But, dog personalities are not different ONLY as a result of their breed.
Not every pit bull is the same, not every poodle is the same.
Can we all agree that dogs can have personalities that are not associated AT ALL with their breed?
I know dogs of all different breeds that are shy, social, have a sense of humor, are snobby, or dopey, agressive, sneaky, or whatever, and that does not have to do with their breed.
jmo originally said that "...it is no coincidence that certain breeds attack people/children/other animals more than others do." and that is what i belive is wrong. It is a coincidence.
Pit Bulls attack people more than any other breed because pit bulls are the popular breed to train to fight. If poodles were the popular dog to train to fight, then poodles would attack the most people/animals/whatever. Before pit bulls, it was German Shepherds. German Shepherds used to be the dog that attacked the most people.

Pit Bulls , Staffs , Rottweillers .. and the like. All are naturally agressive dogs .. ok .. responsible owners have a degree of control .. but not all owners of this type of dog are responsible. In fact the opposite is often the case, they have these breeds BECAUSE they're agressive.
These breeds should not be domestic pets.
You do have a point, but not all of that is true.
EVERY DOG is naturally agressive, not only the types you included.
If a poodle, or a chihuahua, or a pomeranian is pissed at something, its probably going to attack it, or scare it, or bark at it, or something to that effect. Same with any other dog. They are dogs, its what they do. But, when a dog is agressive towards someone/something for no reason, it is USUALLY because of abuse or neglect of some kind.
As for people having these breeds because they are agressive... duh!
That is what we're talking about. If someone wants an agressive dog, they have something wrong with them, and those are the types of dog owners who train their dogs to fight.
There is a difference between agression and protection. My dog is not agressive in the least bit, but if she felt she needed to protect me, or herself, she could, and would. It is dog (and human) nature. It is not something that needs to be taught. Anyone (dog, human, bird, fish, insect) will protect themselves if they feel threatened.
That is where most dog owners make their mistake (sometimes unknowingly); they think they need to train their dog to protect them, or their house, but in fact, they will protect you/it on their own.

Pitbulls should NOT be banned anywhere, ever. Same with Rotties, my dad has the rotty stereotype in his mind, and doesn't like it when I go near them, but any one I've ever met has been a big baby.
Yes dogs can be aggressive, yes they can attack people, but I firmly believed it's only if they are raised that way, Pitbulls rescued from fighting rings can end up being the sweetest gentlest dogs, even with small children.
I've posted this before but I think it's amazing and needs to get out there.. It's a bit gory, very sad, and it makes me cry, but it's very moving.

He was shown nothing but love and care, but at some point something changed and he started to attack us. We had to get him muzzled.
The only person who could handle him was my mum.
We think he might have been ill though, in hindsight.
He died about a year after his attacks got bad, and he was only 6.
Various things can send a good dog bad, not just cruelty.
very true!
Going back to the personality thing... Just like humans, any dog can have a crazy personality, or a mental illness that doesn't have to do with any type of cruelty at all, just chemicals in their brain... you can't do anything about that.
I had a friend in high school that was brought up by a really nice family, and was a normal girl... but now she is in a mental institution...
I also knew a pit bull that was totally normal in his litter, but once my friend adopted him, he turned into a devil. Even being so small, he tried numerous times to attack my full grown pit bull...
crazy dog...

Pit Bulls should not be kept as domestic pets .. that is what I think about this breed of dog, regardless of how rsponsible you may be as an owner.

that video is so sad...
I wish more people knew how great these dogs were.
I urge everyone that has a negative view for any dog to do their research and actually spend time with these dogs before you judge them and accuse them...
They are truly beautiful animals...
