No they shouldn't be banned and no they most certainly aren't horrible animals. Any dog, no matter the breed, can have a bad temperament. If this is the case it's the owner's responsibility to be extra careful and train them appropriately.

I work at a shelter and we get pitbulls all the time. The mean ones are this way because they've been abused or neglected by people. Many of them turn into very sweet dogs once they're shown some love and care. I could train a poodle to be vicious if I wanted to.

My German shepherd mix will take biscuits from my mouth. If she goes too fast I say "gentle" and she backs up right away and takes it gently from me. She does this because this is the way she was trained.

Damn right I'm good in bed, I can sleep for hours!

You love it. You know you do.

I don't think thats true. A black person and a white person differs only in physical apearance. Breeds of dogs differ in not only apearance but personallity.

You cannot compare the two.

Are you telling me that every person, no matter what race, are all alike, except for physical apprearance?

Haven't you ever met a crazy person on a bus, or seen a nice suburban family walking into church, or seen a crime or a robbery, or heard of a person who thinks they say a UFO, saw a murderer on the news, voted for a candidate in a govermental election? Aren't these personalities? Ways of life?

Are these people all the same? Do they not differ in PERSONALITY, as well as PHYSICAL APPEARANCE??

People come in RACES, dogs come in BREEDS. Ultimately, it is the same thing, and it should be judged as the same thing.

Pitbulls are already banned in the UK.

Is it legal to own a wolf in the USA?

I just said I have, and my baby sitter used to have one when I was little. It was mean. I was afraid to go to her house.

Obvviously your sister couldn't control hers.

I use to think Pit Bulls all were mean and any Pit Bull that had been fought was beyond redeeming. But that was before I started watching The Dog Whisperer. He has several Pit Bulls in his pack and they use to be fighters and are now happily living nonagressive with other dogs. Granted it would take a strong patiant person to retrain them. But The Dog Whisperer has proven it can be done and he has changed my view of Pit Bulls.

I don't think thats what he is saying at all. Personalities are different but not because of what race you are. Dog personalities are different as a result of their breed. Thats not to say you can't train any dog to be nice.

Now your being facetious. I never claimed all people we're alike, and you know I didn't.

Different breeds of dog are completely different to different races of humans. I'll reiterate, a black person and a white person are different only in apearance. A Great Dane and a Greyhound have different traits, beyond just the apearance of the two dogs.

They banned them here in Canada around a year ago, but people still own them, that had them, now they must wear a muzzle at all times in public...............and can still buy them from people who breed quietly..........if you get my drift, so even if yours are banned................., it does not mean you have to get rid of your own pit bull, as said above regarding the muzzle.

But, in my opinion, its not always the dogs fault.........its how it is brought up by its owner.

Pit bulls are known for security guards here at factories, they are on their own, outside, 24/7 etc..............they know to kill!

German Shepards are used for our police dogs here, they are also trained by the officers command............

I do not and never have blamed any kind of dog for what it does.................it has to do with the owner.

Also, no matter how friendly a dog is.............never leave a child unattended with it, they are like you and me, when we want to be left alone or not bugged..................they will attack.................so many people do not realise or care enough to find out info on dogs and cats.

I would like to meet them, it would be a break from seeing the demon dog next door.

Yeah, exactly. You never know how a dog (or any animal) is going to act. If it wants to attack someone, it'll do it. If it wants to be left alone, it wants to be left alone. Just like us.

not a pit bull...but a guy (in florida) recently bought a guard/attach dog for protection.

paid $10,000.00.

the first week home it attacked his mother...was going for her neck when they stopped him.

now, I do not know his mother, but I am guessing that was a waste of $10,000.00.

(My opinion...stupid people should not own attack dogs..pitbulls or whatever)

Too inbred and owners tend to buy them for their aggressive behaviour as a
status symbol. One of mans mistakes at breeding. Sure there are some very nice
ones around, but I wouldn't trust them, especially around kids.

I agree about inbreeding, was shocked when I saw my first Puggles a year ago, half pug, half beagle, was the cutest thing I had ever seen, but c'mon people!

well said Spider! I was attacked by my friends cat years ago, I bent down to tie my shoe laces, it spooked the cat, (the sudden movement)-he immediately leeped onto onto my face and neck! That was a quiet domestic loving cat.

The lacerations were so bad, the emergency doctors were sure someone had hit me with broken glass!

People, always beware, be careful, you would be surprised just what can happen!
