What? People call laptops notebooks?
That's weird. I don't understand why america have the same words as england but to mean something else kind of connected but completely different.
Like pants, we say pants as in underwear but they say pants as in trousers, both items of clothing but very different.
And chips and crisps, we say chips as chunks of potatoes america says chips meaning crisps.
It's the same with laptops, both connected used for writing but completely different.
It's weird.

both the UK and America use the words, notebook and laptop.
they both mean different things.

Latest survey shows that 3 out of 4 people make up 75% of the world's population.

I know that, but what I mean is why name something which is already used in England [notebooks] to call something which is already named in england [laptops] but pick two things kind of similar?
Okay this makes like no sense, and I sound really stupid. Like I think England owns words, but to me it makes sense I just can't explain what I mean.

well they sorta are.

they're both mobile computers.
but the notebook is a smaller and lighter then a laptop.
but a notebook has less features than a laptop.

Yeah exactly, why can't it just be one. I'm sure england made the words up first? I might not be right, but which ever country made the word second there was no point.

If you want something to just surf the net and nothing else I would suggest a stripped down Dell.

One thing you need to have in mind is that notebooks are just for student who are in school while laptop is for every body. And note laptop has floppy drive while note book don't have.
