I am with a company that has decided to move to a skype model, offering a free service in hopes getting our name out in the market place. Anyway, any thoughts on Pros or Cons, suggestions, or advice.

I have a business degree from Clemson, a real estate back ground and I really am looking for something that I might have missed in launching this business model for our service.

All thoughts are greatly appreciated.

one problem with things being free is that they are not appreciated as much as if you had to pay for them

I agree with Trillian, for some reason people think its not a rip off if they pay for a service...

Don't you really mean to offer the marketplace 'free trials' to whatever your likely service is? The trial period should be long enough to get a person hooked on the service, which must be a flawless application. Then, a person convinces himself of his need to continue the service, and you will then succeed. Pre-conditions must be met, before you can even think of making such an offer, however. Facilities, operational costs, staffing, etc., etc. That tells me you need backers, and a pile of capital, and might take a good year or two, just to organize....
