I'm working on a BA in psychology. Definitely want to add a minor but I'm not sure what yet.

Its basically like a focus or concentration on another subject. Like say you have two fields you want to study and don't which to pick or can't decide. You can do a major in one, to study that, and a minor in the other (to get a small overview of the other subject)

Or...its equivalent to a concentration.

Like having a major in accounting, and a minor in economics.

You focus on those two intertwined together.

Oh so it's the equivalent to having Joint Honours degrees in the UK I presume then?

Doesn't work that way over here. Rather than choosing a major that will eventually become a degree, we choose the degree course right off. If we want to change course (major) we have to redo all 3 year

Nah a joint honours is 2 degrees with equal standing
eg Law, History
You will have a degree in both law and history
Whilst a minor is not a separate degree

Ah we are opposite I guess. We do have to declare a major right off teh bat and work towards the first two years are devoted to the basic classes required for all degrees (ie..the english, math etc) mixed with a few pre-major classes. The next two years are devoted to "core" classes that fit your degree.

If you change majors...you have to take the two years over...along with the pre-major classes....but the basic (math, English...you don't have to). This is assuming you are changing to a completely different degree...like a finance degree and an economic degree here have a lot of the same classes that are required....you have would have to take the core classes of that particular degree you are seeking to switch.
