Westboro Baptist Church

Has anyone ever heard of the Westboro Baptist Church? Apparently they've been around for quite some time...and I'm embarrassed to say I've only just now been enlightened due to the Heath Ledger death...
One of the leaders came out with several statements saying that Heath Ledger is now in hell...Anyway, these people picket the funerals of fallen soldiers and have slogans like "Thank God for 911" and "God loves dead soldiers," among others that I don't feel good even typing...
My question is: Does anyone out there know any more? Are they for real? In short, WTF???? Any info is appreciated.

Simply, their freedom of speech, to gather, and to express themselves.

Well if heaven is full of w**kers like those from Westboro Baptist Church I think Hell looks an awful lot more pleasant place to go.

Okay...Freedom of Speech I get. My husband was in the Army for 7 years, fighting for it. I respect the rights of anti-war protesters, anti-abortion supporters, etc. What I don't understand is WHAT it is they are in support of. They seem to be against EVERYTHING...so what is it that they want? I wish I could post a link to one of their websites, but because I am new, it's not allowed...

British TV did a documentary on the Westboro Church and it's basically one extended family with a few blow ins that fall under their spell. They just seem to hate everything and everybody and they are the only ones going to heaven and we will all burn in hell.
The reporter asked one of the leading women in the church about who the father of one of her children was and that was the end of the access to filming. Seems they aren't as righteous as they preach.

What is it that they want? Repentance? Or do they just think it's funny to tell us all that we're going to hell?

They make great play out of dancing on the American flag when protesting at soldiers funeral. They are a bunch of s*** heads.

Well, I don't know where they get off claiming to be a Baptist Church b/c they're not at all. I'm very shocked and pissed off some that they claim that God can hate anyone. If I ever met one of those people...well, all hell would break lose that's for sure.

They give people who are just off their rockers a bad name too.

How is it that nobody has stopped them yet. From what I've read, they've been doing this for years...Nothing's happened to them yet??!! How is there not an angry mob of people with pitchforks to shut them up? They seem like the terrorists of all terrorists to me. Makes me sick...

I think they stick within the law, otherwise im sure there have been plenty of police departments would have loved to have run them in whilst protesting at soldiers funerals.
