back onto subject, well back to my derailment.

ive given various arguments too why the pistols were manufactured.

so whats your argument for them not being manufactured?

Latest survey shows that 3 out of 4 people make up 75% of the world's population.

cuz they would have still been a significant rock band without mcclaren. infact he probably held them back more than anything. the way you say it it makes it sound like it was all mcclarens ideaology where as it was a mixture of the bands music and lyrics and mcclarens ideas regarding the shop. johnny rotten dressed that way anyway despite the shop as you've pointed out yourself. he might not have been able to sing very well but he gave alot of diction on the songs and his lyrics were very good for that genre. if you wanna talk manufactured bands take a look at the prog rock bands that came before that

i know my facts, haven't you read any of this thread?

i've mentioned dozens of facts regarding the pistols and their formation and their management
i've also corrected you on facts (post 20)

not being able to name a bands whole discography does not prove i know nothing of the band.

Considering you're only a kid and wasn't there, and probably don't even have the heart & soul of punk in you, the lifestyle, the culture, the social aspects of 'punk'.... your facts mean squat.

Yes, I'm only 23 myself, but I was brought up with it. Mum being a punk and Dad being a Skin.

The Clash made the mistake of mixing punk with politics, where the Pistols stuck to the true ideology of punk.

The Clash went all Communist, which set the standards for Oi! to go the other way to counter Punk being over-taken by University rich kid art Stalin-loving Commie bastard students.

The Sex Pistols were.. what they were. They couldn't sing, they could barely play, their lyrics were pure energy based on the surrounding social aspects of the time, but they made sure they were a-political.

The Clash were for the rich kids basically. The fancy la de da Soviet-bumming art students.

This is why many of us moved to Oi! -- we went back to the working classed roots of Punk and away from the rich kids playing 'Commie' to look cool such as Joe Strummer.

this is your argument against them not being manufactured?

what could of happened, means nothing.

what did happen is the important thing, and what happened is mclaren turned then into a mainstream manufactured punk band.
and johnny was dressing in torn s&m clothes before the pistols?, so whats this based on?.

and i couldn't care less about manufactured prog bands, it doesn't make the pistols any less or more manufactured.

maths isn't your strong point is it.
you weren't "there" either.

"my" facts (well the facts are coming from the band members and mclaren.) mean everything, they prove mclaren whored the band into a manufactured band.

mcclaren is also a lying tosspot and his side of the story tends to ommit that he gave them hardly any financial backing, very little advice, never wrote any of the songs. what you seem to fail to mention is its also the managers duty to sell the band, get them deals for decent companies by any means nessacary.

tommy's opinion is more valid than either of ours. you didnt have to be there to know all about it. they were so much manufactured as tweaked as to being as they needed to be (minus sid woulda been better)

The Clash were political and boring with as much energy as a watch battery, and the sex pistols were manufactured to make malcome maclarren lots of money! If your looking for the embodyment of punk then perhaps "The Exploited" would be the place to start

he may be a liar, we don' know, and also for all we know johnny Matlock and jones could lying c**ts as well.
but the majority of things ive said are based on books from johnny and i think glen matlock.

yes managers have dutys, but the band members have dutys, which the manager really shouldn't do for them i.e naming the band.

you misunderstound me completely in regards to the other guy.
im criticizing him for implying, what im saying means less because i wasn't there.

hes the one who thinks you had to be there, not me

what your saying means less as you aint even a fan of punk, you have no idea what those songs mean to us.

i dont see why the manager shouldnt pick the name of the band, if its a cool enough name then thats fair enough. you also didnt seem to mention it was bernie rhodes that made the clash political, thus the manager being a considerable influence on what the genre now stands for

woah calm down horsey, where did i say i didn't like punk?.
not being a huge fan of the pistols does not mean i don't like punk.

there's nothing wrong with it, but it makes the band manufactured, notice i haven't actually said being manufactured is a bad thing.

yes i did fail too mention that, bernie rhodes made the clash political.
i also failed too mention what colour my socks are.

because they're both irrelevant, too what im discussing.

your spelling can also be s**t at times i thought ya said earlier on that ya much prefered people who could actually play and that ive always said myself you dont need to be a technically great player to make great music. as the clash got better at playing and more experimental the actual brilliance of the music was worse IMO. nothing could possibly beat white riot or i fought the law.
