To me, they both embodied the anti-establishment philosophy and frenetic energy of Punk, but lyrically I think The Clash have to be considered the best. Anyone care to disagree?

I think both bands had a totally different style to their music and way they went about things. Hard to compare them really but in the end, I would have to say the CLASH (sorry Sel) due to seeming to have a more educated view within their lyrics where the SEX PISTOLS seemed to just kind of be there to piss people off. Both were great though.

The pistols did do some good stuff, manufactured bands do make good stuff because its gotta sell or the whole project goes tits up. I did like the B sides much more than the crappy anarchy s**t. When they made fun songs instead of trying to be political and shocking they were good and sounded like they were having fun.

the clash are my favourites but the pistols are the ones who really out 'punk' on the map. love 'pretty vacant', it rocks!

The Clash and the Pistols were too different to say which was better, the Clash were better musicians, and the Pistols were just in your f**kin face non-stop.

ahhhh I have such a soft spot for The Clash. Met my first boyfriend at a Halloween party. He was dressed in Clash garb

the pistols got me in to punk so them (seeing as people have missed the point and think theyre 'manufactured'... do they know anything about the history of the pistols???) whereas the clash were on their own trip and werent even punk from london calling onward, the pistols changed musical history with one album, it took the clash their whole career and joe strummer dying for us to realise hes a moody middle cla** tosser

Sid (as sexy as he is) completely f**ked the pistols... though Johnny made a come back in Public image Ltd! The Clash is just the clash they cant be beat and they can bring random people together (the ramones do that too)
