yea, getting slaughtered makes things interesting.

leader gives you one last chance to stay, he challenges you to a race through the forrest.

if you win you get to be second in command but without the drawback of having to sleep with the leader.

if he wins you must stay and watch him be happy with his new mate.

or alternativly you could go and join a new pack, but you would have to start from the bottom of the peeking order again.(even tho u are famous)

"free" werewolves get into lots of fights, so be careful especially if u happen to run into a pack on ur travels.

probably because most werewolves stay in a pack a lone wolf is kinda a foreign concept to them.
