OK, so at my school few days ago, a boy and a girl were in a fight. The girl started the fight (as far as I know), and the boy naturally hit back. But now a lot of people are after him because he hit a girl.

Thinking about the situation, was it wrong of him to hit back, instead of walking away, or taking it, or just trying to stop her, without actually hitting back? It's not always easy to walk away from something like that, and if it had been him against another guy, there'd probably be no problem.

So is this guy in the right or in the wrong? In today's modern society, is it acceptable to say that a girl hitting a guy is fine, but the guy hitting back wrong?

Yes, it was wrong of him.

Don't hit girls. It's not hard. Very, very few teenage girls will actually cause injury to a guy.

She's a wackjob for hitting him in the first place. Violence should never be ok.
That siad, it probably wasnt' genius on his part to physically fight back. However, if a female is going to draw first blood...she isn't going to get sympathy from me. I'm sure others will disagree, but ahh well.

Good question, if i was a guy and a girl was punching me it would take every scrap of self control not to punch back and to be 100% honest i dont know if i could possess that much control.

My teachings to my own son are to not hit back but to restrain or to get the hell out of the way or yell for as many witnesses as he can if a girl attacks him. The moment he hits back then the scales are tipped heavily against him and in this society it is unacceptable for a male to hit a female.

I just wish it was equally unacceptable for a female to hit a male.

It's never right for anyone to hit anyone.
It is possible though that he may have reacted purely out of reflex, (though he probably should have tried walking away first. Then if she pursued, hitting him still, a good smack she would have deserved. (but never a punch).

No-one should ever hit anyone, should they? Talking things through is the best way to resolve differences.

Having said that, I don't think he should have hit her back. He should have walked away, although hitting back was probably instinctive.

I don't feel that there is any situation that it is right for a guy to hit a girl, period. Only in a matter of self defense in a lethal/fatal attack with a weapon.

The girl was in the wrong as well. Abuse is abuse. No one has the right to touch another without permission.

In my opinion.

Just to throw in my chips on this matter, I think he should have hit her harder than he actually did. If I started a fight with anyone, male or female, I would expect to be hit back, and I wouldn't go around complaining about the fact.

Women constantly complain about not having equal rights, but the moment something happens that they don't like, they revert back to the pathetic "But he's a boy and I'm just a girl" oppinion and state of mind. It pisses me off!

That boy needs his a** kicked. I don't care that she started it. He should've either walked away or just tried to block her moves or grabbed hold of her so she couldn't hit him. Hitting a girl is NEVER an option.

Girls are increasingly violent in society, teenage boys are being beaten to crap by gangs of girls and they think its funny.

I don't, because males - especially teenage males - have a much higher capacity for and ability to inflict violence on girls than vice versa.
