I have, on average, around 8 hours sleep a night. Sometimes more, sometimes a little less.

Isn't 8 hours the recommended amount?

I just feel so unbelievably tired all the time, it's making my concentration slip as well.

I don't suppose anyone would have any idea what kind of things are likely to make me so tired, when I'm getting the recommended (I think?) hours of sleep a night?

It's really frustrating. I can sleep for about 12 hours and still be tired too.

Maybe you're getting too much sleep then, that can slow you down some too.

I know the recommended amount is somewhere like 9 1/4 hours but nobody actually gets that

Yeah, 8 hours is about right. Look into your diet. You could be anaemic. My aunt used to feel tired all the time, and when she went to the doctors, the iron in her blood was so low, she was put on the strongest pills and had to take them like twice a day! She feels loads better now

I go to sleep at about midnight, and have to wake up for school at about 6:20, I don't think I get enough sleep then... No wonder...

Anemia is simply when you don't have enough iron in your blood, I'm anemic. What my doc told me was to simply eat more iron-rich foods, like red meat, and take vitamins every day. It can vary from severe to something like my case

Edit- look at gideon's findings, I guess there's more to it than I was told

My mother is a nurse and when I was a teen she said that it's normal to feel more tired at that age. I forget the reason but most teens sleep more than the average 8 hours. So no worries! You'll grow out of it.

I had a look at the Wikipedia article (thanks for that) and it sounds a little like me... But seeing as it's to do with blood? Does it require a blood test to diagnose? Cause I can't handle that. I think I'd throw up everywhere then faint.

I wouldn't worry too much Laura, as said its probably a combination of your age and diet (exam stress?) try eating earlier in the evening and dont drink tea, coffee or coke later on. Try some exercise before you eat in the evening too. I still sleep for Britain and im an old fogie compared to you. I hope this helps (a bit) C

Thanks I don't have any exams coming up until something like June so that's not it... I don't drink tea, coffee and I rarely drink Coke so that's not it... I eat dinner at around 5pm because it has to be ready before my stepdad goes to work... And excerise? What the hell is that?

I'm pretty sure it does require a blood test, I had to get one, but if you get a good nurse like I did then you won't be able to concentrate on it and you'll hardly know what happens I used to almost faint when I saw needles but with someone there that knows what they're doing, it can be a lot easier

I'm a massive wimp when it comes to needles. I couldn't possibly have a blood test

Go the the chemist and ask for a tonic for yourself. Tell the pharmacist your feeling tired and see what he/she reccomends.
