Hi everyone, I just found these forums.

I am a severe tinnitus sufferer.
My GP, who consulted a specialist in the area, said the only way to get rid of it was to have an operation which will leave me profoundly deaf!.
(I still have 50% hearing in each ear and don't want to take that route.)
I live in area where there are many alternative practitioners who all claim they can help, but not one of them has produced a person who has had their tinnitus reduced(or removed).

I would like to hear from ANYONE that has themselves experienced reduction in their tinnitus due to some method.

Regards Alex

Hi Alex, I myself suffer the same thing. I think it it is down to listening to too many live bands in my case and it's got to me in the end. I have learnt to live with it but it's not easy. Any thing that will reduce your hearing to cure this is probably not for me. I would rather cope with tinnitus and retain what's left of my hearing. Just typing this is making me aware of that high pitch whistle. AGGHHHHH!
Best of luck anyway.

I also have this problem and it is related to an inner ear disorder. I have found a low sodium diet, less cafeine and keeping stress in check does help..but that is quite impossible to do!

Yeah i've got it too. I saw an ear, nose and throat specialist 20 yrs ago and they told me there was no cure...mines managable and it's only when i'm awake at night that i really notice it...Unitl it gets mentioned and then... It draws youre attention too it. I remember about a year ago it just occured to me...wouldn't it be great if it went away and b4 i knew it i was cryin' at the thought of it!!

I have it also and it is very annoying, but I prefer the tinnitus to the alternative.

Hi,

I was just wondering if you had the operation. My father learned to live with his tinnitus and after 10 years it has come back with a vengance after being stressed over pain in his leg that won't go away, he started becoming depressed and the tinnitus returned even worse that it was before and he is talking about doing the same thing as you were talking about- going deaf in the one ear because he can't take it anymore.

Tinnitus has been linked to circulatory problems, Gingko plus, lycium and B12 are good for this to help you with your tinnitus
