22/M/Goodlettsville, Tennessee Join Date: Mar 2005 | The War on Terror was sparked by the 9/11 attack. The government said that going to Afghanistan would solve the problem. In reality, we went to Afghanistan to get rid of the Taliban, which had been oppressing people for many years; however, people still saw the War on Terror as the reason for going over there.
Then, when the business with Iraq began, the government again said it was about the War on Terror. Hadn't we been told that the fighting in Afghanistan was for that purpose though? Really, Hussein didn't have ties to the Taliban; thus, there was no connection between Afghanistan and Irag and thus there was no connection between Iraq and the War on Terror, unless the War on Terror is such a broad thing as "attacking whoever could spread terror at all." In that case, we should be attacking North Korea. | | |

I'm not impressed by anything the U.S. is doing politically, whether it's in the foreign policy area or on the homefront. Especially with the whole gay marriage issue, and the criminal/"justice" system.
I understand that there are a lot of ideologies represented in the American population, and some of them do include being anti-gay marriages and abortion, etc; and they have every right to their opinions and beliefs, just like the pro-gay, pro-choice folks do. As far as LAWS are concerned, however...
the way I see it, the only right thing to do is to find a way to accomodate as much of the population as you can. Let people make their own choice; it's not right for someone to be tied up and left without options.
Just my two cents.
