My Mother passed away in 2005. We were not very close [Personal Issues].

Nonetheless I did grieve her. My problem is that I have been dreaming about her for the last 4-5 months almost every night. In my dream she looks dead but we are talking and everything is black, moldy and rotten.

I am not scared of her in the dream, but why would I be having these dreams of her constantly considering that we were not that close and let's just say she wasn't the Mother type?

Why am I dreaming of a Dead Person?

Don't know if anyone knows, but perhaps someone has had the same type of experience.

I don't think this is so similar, but maybe it is. My aunt was a drug addict, a liar, a thief, just a bad person altogether. I stopped talking to her before I became pregnant, after she burned down my mother and sisters apartment(Don't wanna say how). She left and didn't tell anyone where she went, she just left. And after I gave birth, I found out she had a heart attack and died.
Shortly after that, I started having odd dreams of her meeting Eva, coming to my apartment, smoking cigarettes together, talking about her problems. It was very strange. And she was always dressed in black and I could never see her very well.
Personally, I think it might be because I never had any closure with her. We just stopped talking, she left, then she died...I mean, we never talked about everything she did to hurt the family and the fire and everything...I just think I saw her in my dreams as a subconscious way of getting closure. But I could be wrong, that's just my view on it.
Did you talk to your mother before she died? Have any communication with her? Maybe this is your way of wanting to reach out to her about your problems? So you can finally tell her how you feel and/or say goodbye, through your dreams?

I talked to her until 1/2 an hour before she died. She would confide in me as she was dying that she was scared but told no one else in the family and I have 11 siblings.

It seems like it's playing on your mind, whether you were close or not it is still your mother and maybe it's because of your different relationship with her that you think about it more. I'm guessing the dreams will pass in time

I hope so! It would be different if I saw her as she was in life but seeing her decayed is quite disturbing. Thanks for your comment!

You know, I always thought I saw my aunt in my dreams because she might be trying to talk to me, and apologize. I know that sound stupid, but I lost quite a few family members in between the last few years and I've only thought about them. I've never had dreams about them, not like this anyway, so personal. The last dream I had about my grandmother, who I was incredibly close to, was that she was cooking spaghetti for me and we watched Jeoprady.
But the dreams about my aunt just made me feel like it was her way of trying to communicate with me, or me trying to communicate with her. I know stuff like this seems odd and impossible, but I can't seem to think of other reasons.
Maybe you or your mom is trying to contact one another to resolve issues or get some closure. Maybe you weren't finished with her and you still needed to talk to her or see her and your dreams are allowing you to do that? Is she saying anything in them at all or specifically?

sounds like a lack of closure about the fact that she died to me.

I used to have dreams about my grandpa after he died, like he was still alive, but everyone thought he was dead. They didn't stop until I talked to my dad about him dying, and that was when it really occurred to me that he really was actually dead. I know it sounds weird, but somehow I guess some part of my mind was holding out that he wasn't really.

She is beside me and telling me to pick up the beautiful things out of the decayed bodies and rotten floors and to keep them aside. So I have to walk on rotting floors and through what seems like death to get at these perfectly pristine shaped objects and even food. Then putting them aside but there isn't many real beautiful things to get but she finds them and points them out to me.

Did she make you do things you were really uncomfortable with when she was alive?

I couldn't go to her funeral or be there when she actually passed away because I had had a hysterectomy gone very bad and couldn't get out of bed. Could it be guilt that I wasn't there for her or attended her funeral?

I think you should try to read up on stuff like this. I don't think it's abnormal or anything, I'm sure there are people that are in your situation. Tyr looking online or something for people that went through something similar that you did with your parents, or just your mother, and see if anyone else has dreams like yours. It might be able to help you to relate to someone else who is or has gone through it and see their take on it.

Since I don't know about what dreams mean, I really can't comment, wish I could though

Here is something I found on the net about dreaming dead people.
Hope this helps. My girlfriend being from bosnia also can analyze dreams. Her grandmother taught her how to do so.

Dream Meanings - DEAD
To see the dead in your dream, forewarns that you are being influenced by negative people and are hanging around the wrong crowd. You may suffer material loss. This dream may also be a way for you to resolve your feelings with those who have passed on.

If you dream of a person who has died a long time ago, then it suggests that a current situation or relationship in you life resembles the quality of that deceased person. The dream may depict how you need to let this situation or relationship die and end it.

To see and talk with your dead parents in your dreams, represents your fears of losing them or your way of coping with the loss. You may want that last opportunity to say your final good-byes to them.

To see your dead sibling, relative, or friend alive in your dream, indicates that you miss them and are trying to relive your old experiences you had with them. In trying to keep up with the pace of your daily waking life, you dreams may serve as your only outlet in coping and coming to terms with the loss of a loved one.
