(IBD, 090925) But not Studies about Christianity. It is unlawful. Yes! Seventh graders are required to study about Muhammad for two weeks and it includes taking muslem names and reciting Muslem prayers starting with "Alah is the only god---. It was approved by a Federal Judge and upheld by the 9th Circuit Court of California.
Let's break this down
"But not Studies about Christianity. It is unlawful."
"It was approved by a Federal Judge and upheld by the 9th Circuit Court of California."
Then it's not unlawful is it?
Get over it! It's only 2 weeks and I'm sure this isn't the only religion they're being taught. Plus, being taught a religion doesn't mean they're automatically going to follow it. Aren't 7th graders about 12-13 years old? They have brains you know.

Yes! It surprised the devil out of me! But I know the California 9th Circuit Court. There is none other like it! It continually defies the decisions handed dowh by the United States Supreme Court.
So California is acting more like a nation of its own than a State?

If they want it to be like this then they should teach muslims about christianity, right?
They should but this country is too generous and too compassionate when it comes to other cultures although this nation is not getting the same respect from them.

20/M/Edinburgh, United Kingdom Join Date: May 2006 | Surely now is the best time to teach kids about Islam. At a time when the majority of the big political world issues are related to Islam/Muslims surely it is good that kids are being taught what Islam actually is.
I did my ES in Higher RMPS on Islam, fascinating religion.

87/F/Anaheim, California Join Date: Aug 2009 | I volunteer in a public high school in Califonria. The sophomore social studies course includes information about the geography of every continent.
When the students study Latin America, they learn about Catholicism, and some precolumbian religions, with little mention of their blood thirsty practices.
When the students study East Asia, they learn about Lao Tz, Kung Tz, and Shinto. Sometimes the students study stoneage cultures like the Ifugaos, whom one might find particularly interesting because as children the Ifugaos . . . , as my third husband would say, . . . they f*** their lights out from seven to seventeen. Sometimes when I sit in the classroom, I need to get up and leave to avoid laughing out loud because I know how outraged the parents would be in the teacher told the whole truth about the Ifugaos.
When the students study South Asia or Southeast Asia, they learn about Buddha, Krisha, and some evangelical Islam. For example, Zung He was a Muslim.
When the students study the Middle East, they learn about Judaism, more Christianity, and Islam. Of course, there is no mention of how irrational Muslims can be about pictures of Muhammad or how he had a pedophilic relationship. And there is no mention of how Wahhabist theologians have been plotting to destroy European culture for three hundred years. I've often wondered what Christian parents might say if the course mentioned that Jesus might have been gay, . . . never married, hung out mostly with men, etc.
When the students study Africa, Islam gets a third airing, but the students don't learn about how the North Africans still seethe with anger over the Barbary Wars, which, of course, is one of the reasons Muslim teenagers volunteer to kill people on any of three continents.
Overall, I think the course presents world wide cultures in an objective manner to children who care little about the subject.
Edit: And let me add that, at this school, anyone can pray. The Christian club has a prayer meeting every morning. We have a science teacher who reads the Bible everyday at lunch.
Also, I read somewhere on this site that the Bible suggests that the value of pi is three. Well, the value of pi is not three, it's value is approximately three, and so the Bible is correct, at least about pi. | | | Edited: November 03, 2009 @ 19:38

This course does NOT "Present world wide cultures in an objective manner --". Only the pleasent side. And only Islamic studies. No other religious cultures!.

Maybe on reflection I could say that the world geography course, which I described, is more pleasant than objective. I don't think it contains any untruthful information, but it does leave out some of the warts. That happens also with European and American culture.
The school has a large immigrant population. Probably the largest group come from Latin America, but the school has children from all over the world. I expect that they know that the course paints an image, which is rosier than reality. I know some of the parents, and I know that they kiss the ground when that return to the States after visiting relatives from wince they come.
We sometimes make jokes. We have an Iraqi basketball player. A terrorist bombed his house. His father says it's his own fault for buying a house in South Central Los Angeles.
