Join Date: Dec 2005 | So.... its been a while since I have chatted on TFS but where to start.. I thought a nice rant and rave about my life should set things off..
There is a house at the end of the road up for sale, its a damn good price. On the weekend I went to west wales to see my parent with the misses, and she said that her parent want to put half there house up as collateral and buy the house...
Ok I said thats fine but we still need to save at least £10K before we look at moving into any house outside the deposit. We dont have a wachine machine or a sofa for a start let alone a bed any more....
I got home today and they tell me they have been to see the house.. 
And apparently it needs a lot of work. Not a problem I can do all sorts with a saw, hammer and paint brush, being a engineer, and doing up houses since I was a little one with my dad, and my dads a building. Not a problem.. but the decision has been made for me, they not me and Lee don't want the house, at the moment. So they have made a decision without me even knowing what its really like. They by the way is the inlaws.
2 things here, 1. WTF are they doing?? seriously if they want to help us out, let us find a house first then make a decision between me and the misses then call them over to help us out.
AND B. I am sick of this CONTROL they seem to think they have over me and the misses, It feels like we are kids that haven't a clue how things work in life.
At this rate I will be a walking wallet told what to do, and when to pay... And if I am treated like that, I will be "walking" my wallet else were....
But before you start saying, "you need to talk to them" talking was done weeks ago about the interfering, and yet.. its still happening...

Thing is, i am not asking for it. they seem to just jump in and then look at me going.. "i am helping you now.." its all well and good but most of the time its too f***ing late.

Doesnt it piss you off?? I have been pretty much independent since 16 till moving in with the inlaws for a few months to save money.. the MIL just annoys me beyond annoyance level..

 I'm all for getting help (I know that sounds pathetic but if my mom and dad want to give me money or buy/fix things for me, have at it) but, if they were to start trying to interfere, I would leave them out of the process.
Just go and find what you and the lady want and don't include them in that. If they want to help after you have made a decision, good.
And when you get to the point where you know nothing, you will have achieved something- Wisdom | | | |

Ye that is exactly what I want to do.. want being the word of the day.. its seems I have a weakness.. the misses.. she is, well put it this way, persuaded but when I am not around to throw some objections in. They know what there doing!

I've never ever been put in a position of power or independence.
Trust me, I had the ambition to get myself in that situation when I was younger but then realised what life was about so I just sorta let it kick me around while I drink beer and play video games to pass the time until death.

It seems they should be left of the loop on as much as possible until as late as possible so there isn't any opportunity for barging in. For instance, don't tell them you're house hunting until you have found the house you know you want and are already getting financing on it. Sound Advice, the trouble with this house is they have jumped in feet first instead of me finding it, its at the end of the road and £50K below market value due to the renovation work it needs.. again no problem, but it would have been nice me making that decision first.
You got inlaws like this?? if not can I have them!

Thats a lot of work, its always being undone by one thing or another, but your right me and the misses needs to be on the same page..
