I was playing the Sims Castaway Stories and when I got to the end, the old professor who's helped you throughout the game admits that he crashed the ship in order to get to the island. He then admits to stealing the staff which opens the temple, believing it would give him the edge over other members of the "Illaminati" who went to the island years ago to find the power source that they planned to use to control the world. I got bored so I googled it. Here are the results google

Illuminati has been used to describe any secret society since the Bavarian Illuminati disbanded decades ago. They can also be reffered to as the Westphalian Brotherhood. It is said that many high ranking freemasons, aristocrats, politicians and the like make this group up. though they are in seperate parties/ organisations, it is said that they are of a single consciousness and will go to whatever invidious/ insidious lengths to achieve their objectives. I do realise that this is all hearsay, don't take any of the parts from "It is said" as fact.
