Well, I am sorry that I don't agree with you on that one. For me, KSE is marginal at best. Perhaps a little too mainstream for my metal tastes, I dunno. Not bad, but not fab either. But thats just my humble opinion.

HAHA! I love Dethklok...but I find the more I listen to them, the more I seperate them from other bands/metal that I listen to...mainly for the fact that they are so animated in their style...but then again it is based of a T.V show. HAHA but seriously, they are awesome...one of the best things that T.V has ever produced.

I think Obituary is one of the best Death Metal bands right now just because of their consistency. They haven't turned into some boring progressive band like so many once great Death Metal bands like Morbid Angel and Amorphis. Suffocation is another band that has stayed true to their roots and haven't crossed over. As far as Black Metal goes, Averse Sefira, Lord Wind, and Absu are keeping the original spirit alive.

no, instead they just started to spew out uninspired, jaded s**t and passed it off to the die-hards as new music, when really its all regurgitated songs and bland riff-writing. and they were the true kings of metal in their day. john tardy just had them vocals as well, ykno.....THEM vocals

this is a hard topic due to the fact that metal is very broad. There are so many genres of metal such as heavy metal, gothic metal, power metal, glam metal, melodic death metal, death metal, brutal death metal, folk metal, black metal, depressive black metal, symphonic black metal, and the list goes on and on and on ect. Honestly, in my opinion, I am in love with Melodic Death Metal which includes bands such as Children of Bodom, Naildown, Mors Principium Est, Equilibrium, and much more. My favorite band in this genre though, would have to be Shadow of Man. They are an awesome "MeloDeath" band. Check them out on youtube or something!

Breaking into sub-sub genres like Brutal Death Metal and Depressive Black Metal is ridiculous. Brutal Death Metal is a redundant term (like calling somebody an alcoholic drunk), and depressive is the opposite of what Black Metal originally stood for.
