The Roman Empire, the ancient worlds most powerful peoples. I ask this question, how is it that they survived for so long? how is it that they survived for centuys before finally falling to time. I already know this, but I want to hear your thoughts on this, why did the Romans survive for so long?

Because rome had become so stretched and weakened by then, plus their battle tactics had become out dated.
When you think about all the borders they had to defend, and then you had a lot of internal politics stuggles which all contributed to the demise of rome.

A little of that, and superior numbers i think. Dont forget, at the romans were also fighting the huns, who inflicted great losses on the romans. Then the goths and vandals and all the rest come along and the romans just couldnt cope.
You see, People learnt that the roman army was limited in mobility, and rather than take them on in a head on clash, in which the roman war machine would have destroyed them, they would make small sorties on the romans, picking a few off at a time then retreating.

I take AP World history so I should know this... Well, they obviously had a good political system established that was able to settle civil disputes and spread peace and prosperity. They had highly advanced technology, not forgetting an extraordinary political and militia strategy. They were able to expand throughout the Mediterranean, parts of the Middle East, even to some areas in northern China. Key figures in their empire include Constantine, Cesar, and Alexander the Great (was able to expand the Roman Empire by 10-20%).

That's all I can remember from that unit.
The Greeks and Romans are difficult because their history is so long and broad.
