Its interesting isn't it. Lots of strange things were mooted and even seriously
considered in the past. How luck was the US to get its hands on Alaska. In
my part of the world, New Zealand was considered for becoming part of
Australia. I don 't seriously consider it will happen in my lifetime, but we
were not all so territorial in the past. More likely is that Australia, New
Zealand and other nearby countries including Indonesia will form economic
and currency unions to combat the hammering we tend to get when countries
in Europe and place like the US f*** us over with their subsidies to their
farms making our efficient farmers unable to complete. On the topic of New
Zealand, so many of them live here in Australia now that I believe there is a
sign at Auckland airport which says "Would the last person in NZ to board a
plane for Australia please turn off the lights".
The funniest take on the whole New Zealanders in Australia thing is a
comment by Piggy Muldoon, former New Zealand Prime Minister who though
it was a good thing that so many young New Zealanders move here. He said:
"Every New Zealander who moves to Australia raises the average IQ of both
countries"
