Yeah but you would most likely be searched by a great big muscular chick with facial hair who really really likes her job.

Not what I had in mind.

there was also an interview i read where a prisons minister was looking into alternative ways.

i dont really know what would be the best way but technology has come a long way and im sure there is something someone can come up with

That's not really an answer.

It's easy to say "well technology is incredible so we should find something." It's not easy to make that happen. There isn't any easy, reliable, safe way to view the insides of a human being on a frequent basis.

"Passion threatens the complacent and fills them with fear. Fear of the new, the deep, and the different. We, on the other hand, seek it out. Endlessly, joyously... and aggressively."

its not that frequent for one person tho. the searches are very random. and if it has to stay this way then i dont think it should be so violent and demeaning. if someone if throwing a fit and trying to hurt the guard, ok, i understand a forceful strip search. but i also understand that when a person is seeing these guards dragging the women out of their cells and hurting them why they would want to resist.

i dont know what kind of alternatives there are, so i'm sorry, but i cant answer your question. but i do think something needs to be done

I think if the person was in on charges related to drugs then they could be xrayed upon arival (with the technician carrying outthe xray having one of the badges that go cloudy on exposre). Also if the person comes from an area known for drugs (they may not take them themslevs but they could be blackmailed to bring the drugs inside). But they should not have random searches, fair enough after a visit, but not completly random ones.JMO

as i said upon arrival and for visits. the cloudy badges would monitor the technicians exposure aswell so it minimises everyones exposure, and once they reach a certain level for say a week they should not be allowed to carry out more xrays. prisons would therefore need more than one technician.

sorry i just reallised you may have meant if i thought they should also be searched, if this is what you meant i think the xrays would be enough.

however inorder to ensure the xrays are as effective as the strip searches it is possible a lawyer would argue that a prisoner must be subjected to both. i.e to see if the xray picks up everything

i agree with that. do you think they would do that a few times to see how effective it is and then stop the search and only use the xrays? well, do you think they should do that? i think so.

The alternative of screening them with xrays is unrealistic imo. Thats alot of unneccesary radiation they will be exposed to.
I don't think there is any other option apart from what is already being done. There are always going to be those who abuse their power which is wrong, but I don't like the idea of xraying every person entering

Xraying everyone would probably cost a lot too.

And yeah, they're in prison. They broke the law(most of the time). So they kind of lose their rights.

I wouldn't mind being strip searched. As long as the cop is good looking though.
