I wouldn't mind being strip searched. As long as the cop is good looking though.

Yeah but you would most likely be searched by a great big muscular chick with facial hair who really really likes her job.

yea, but do they have to be so violent? there was this conference that this organization called Sisters Inside held. It was held for all the security and prison guards. The organization put on a sketch, I guess you would call it, that showed exactly how the guards treated these women when they performed strip searches. Most of the guards started crying. One woman even said that if taken out of their uniforms, lose the power of the uniform, it was just be sexual abuse. instead of learning their lesson, being taught to never do it again, they're scared and live in fear.

Violence would be necesary if the prisoner was resisting. But maybe sometimes they do get a little out of control.

the reason they sometimes resist is because of how violent they are.

strip searches are necassary and should be done by both male and female regardless of sexuality purely on the basis that theres a second opinion then, maybe in a room where theres cctv to deter violence? thats just a thought though, cant be done because of the law regarding human rights and videos

the above is all meant in the best PAHSSIBLE taste

its illegal for women to search men and vice versa. its not ethnic and i dont think it should be male with female and female with male. and it cant be recorded bc thats a violation of privacy. a prison is being sued for it now..

but if there was a cctv camera it would be a case for the defendant if violence was used. im not saying thats what i believe should happen, just that it would be an idea worth thinking about anyway criminals should lose all human rights on being convicted and visitors thoroughly checked anyway IMHO

In my english cla** this semester, our professor had us read a book about prisons and pick a topic and write about it all semester. There were 5 topics to choose from and we wrote about 5 different types of essays on it. The topic I chose was was strip searches as sexual abuse. It's horrible what these women have to go through. I tried to add what men go through in my papers but you can't find anything about it. I mean, these women are degraded so horribly. They are forced to strip down and if they refuse, at least 2 or 3 guards hold them down and strip the clothes off themselves. There was one raid where they pulled a woman off a top bunk to the floor and she hit her head and had to be taken to the hospital and found out she had a broken jaw. Some things are even too digusting for me to post on here. I personally think that there should be a different way to search people. What are ya'lls thoughts on this topic?

What do you think the different way should be?

It's prison. It isn't the Riviera or the doctor's office. You're in jail and you might have things hidden in your body orifices.

What do you think the alternative should be (besides something "different"?

see, i disagree, i think that it shouldnt be so violent and demeaning. for people who killed i can agree with what you are saying, but for things like robbery i dont. this is JMO also. i guess im also trying to play the advocate like my history teacher did to see what people will say. its just a topic that interests me

You can't irradiate people with X-rays every day. That is a genuine health risk that would lead to high levels of cancer among the prison population.

I don't have any.

But I also have no problem with convicted criminals serving prison sentences feeling a little violated when they have cavity searches performed.

The OP thinks it ought to be "different." I'd like to hear her alternatives.

i thought of xray also. people dont get searched every day. they do random ones and get searched after a visit.

there was a case where someone got arrested for intoxication while in public, which was a false charge bc she ignored some guy. the police called her a "rich bitch"

when she got to the prison she refused the strip search and she was thrown into what is called a "cold room" where they keep you in there completely naked with nothing in there but a drain in the middle of the room if you need to use the bathroom. there were nude and cold with nothing to keep them warm. all for public intoxication. i dont think someone whos being submitted for this should be strip searched. she wasnt even admitted into the prison. dont they usually only search you when being submitted? (correct me if im wrong here bc im not 100% sure)

there was also an interview i read where a prisons minister was looking into alternative ways.

i dont really know what would be the best way but technology has come a long way and im sure there is something someone can come up with
