In my english cla** this semester, our professor had us read a book about prisons and pick a topic and write about it all semester. There were 5 topics to choose from and we wrote about 5 different types of essays on it. The topic I chose was was strip searches as sexual abuse. It's horrible what these women have to go through. I tried to add what men go through in my papers but you can't find anything about it. I mean, these women are degraded so horribly. They are forced to strip down and if they refuse, at least 2 or 3 guards hold them down and strip the clothes off themselves. There was one raid where they pulled a woman off a top bunk to the floor and she hit her head and had to be taken to the hospital and found out she had a broken jaw. Some things are even too digusting for me to post on here. I personally think that there should be a different way to search people. What are ya'lls thoughts on this topic?

I have some friends who did a lot of time.
I guess there's alot of people that sneak stuff in in there asses and stuff.
They don't do a whole lot of strip searches in our state prison, but I can see why they would.

I wouldn't mind being strip searched. As long as the cop is good looking though.

its pretty invasive stuff, if you aren't of the right mindset that sort of thing can be extremely traumatic.

On the other hand, i think in some cases it is necessary because things can be concealed in the human body for quite a long time and it is a safety measure for the staff and other inmates.

I do think that perhaps sometimes this is abused in order to make the prisoner break down or they are being plain bullied.

Unfortunately, it's kind of hard to tell if someones concealing something like a drugs package any other way. It's sad and there should be more sensitivity involved but I can see why they do it. It's sounds pretty terrible though.

Some of the things these women have to do is like take their tampon out and put a new one in in front of the guards and sometimes in front of male guards which is illegal. I even found out that an 11 month old was strip searched

an 11 month old...??? I don't even want to know that is a horrible thought and it makes me sick to think about it.

cavity. took off the babys clothes and searched all over. i think thats horrible. and it was proven that if people do put things on their children, its on their person, not in.

cavity search on an 11 month old is child abuse. Strip search is different, the child wouldn't care less, but cavity search is not acceptable unless they have a court order to prove that they suspected the child would have drugs or weaponry concealed in an orifice - and sadly.. i think some people do this to thier kids The child abuse would fall on whoever put the s**t in thier kid in the first place.

You loose some of your rights when you're put in jail.
It's just the way it goes. If people didn't commit crimes, they wouldn't have to worry about it.

People put bags of heroin in their kids guts, nappies etc etc.

People are sick that way. Normally, the kid's more important but drugs and money can change that.
